Likely eligibility relief for athletes who lose seasons due to COVID-19

This is almost certain to pass and will include football but the Devil is in the details.

Athletes who schools choose to play will lose eligibility after playing 50% of their teams games. This should be advantageous to most B1G teams.

So how do teams manage scholarship limits if seniors come back another year and the incoming freshman obviously come in as well?

Definitely will have to process kids. If they increase the scholarship limit, it will forever be increased as new classes come in annually. You can’t just skip a year; people say it would change the game if you can have 100 scholarship players over 85 - and even with that change you’d still have over the limit with 0 departures/attrition this year (obviously a few go pro).

That said, I’m not so sure how more scholarships hurts the game. I can see how it could make the balance of power even worse though. It’s a complicated issue for sure.

Playing eligibility is one thing. I would think many players will have completed their degrees. Will they all move on to graduate degree programs or take additional classes for the fun of it?
I know some 5th year seniors are in graduate programs so that is certainly an option, but I would be amazed if all of the players who wanted to come back would qualify for a graduate program. Can you take random classes to stay eligible once you have obtained your degree?
