How does class status work right now?
The effect of the 2020 "redshirt" is something that's going to have an impact on rosters and depth charts for at least a couple more years. The question I'm asking is...what will that be for Michigan? Obviously, it'll be different for Ronnie Bell and Hassan Haskins (both Seniors, but the assumption is that Bell will have a redshirt year in 2021).
BUT: What about players like Moody, Green, Gray, Hayes, etc.? What are their options? How does that work?

As far as I know, because of Covid, everyone gets an extra year of eligibility.

All players on the team for the 2020 season have 5 years of eligibility or 6 years with a redshirt.

Right - I get that. But that really affects the 2021/22 recruiting cycle players a lot. Is this going to end up pushing folks into the portal? Are some players gonna get the firm handshake? I'm looking for a little more specific info/takes.

What you are looking for is not really something anyone here has anyway of knowing at this point of the season.
That kind of info likely won't start getting leaked or "insidered" until after or closer to the end of the season when the coaches and players make some decisions

Totally fair. I'm not asking, for example, WHO is going to transfer or get a firm handshake. That's not a good thing to ask at this point.
What I'm asking is: generally speaking, how is this going to get handled? I just listed specific players because they're all different types of scenarios, and could all be handled in different ways.

The answer is the same, no one knows. It is unprecedented and all we can do is trust Harbaugh will skillful navigate the challenges it presents.

It's not just going to impact that class...everyone gets that free year.
For example, Henning and Corum are both RS Freshman in terms of eligibility.
Zinter, Roman Wilson and Kris Jenkins are all part of that class.
This like them playing their true freshman year. Crazy, right?
It's going to be far reaching and guys will absolutely get squeezed out over the next few years.
Bring Josh Ross back and you're asking Mullings to sit another year. Bring Stueber and Ryan Hayes back and Trente Jones and Karsen Barnhart are in a similar role (I guess Zinter could slide to C so Barnhart moves into the starting lineup).

I think that Hotel Putingrad is an aristocrat. I am more of a proletariat.

Ask Marx.

See, you and East Quad have done something very interesting, here. It appears that you've changed the meaning of my question to be about *economic or societal* classes when I'm actually talking about *academic* classes— which are relevant to college football.
Clever. Clever.

The Bourgeoisie has some say in this conversation

They all have an extra year.
Haskins is gone though...and how could you blame him?
Bell will be back, Stueber will be interesting. Love the leadership, but Trente Jones and Karen Barnhart are waiting in the wings.
Moody and Robbins both have a COVID year.
Word is they're going to go hard after Josh Ross, and I think that's HUGE. Not because he's the greatest, but we need a leader on defense with Aidan gone. Ross will be an instant captain and keep accountability high.
Green and Gray don't really have a choice, IMO.
Dax Hill and David Ojabo would be the two biggest recruits of the '21-'22 recruiting class. We need to pitch both on NIL opportunities.
