In 2015 we got blown out 42-13 in our stadium. In 2016 we lost in double-overtime in Columbus. I'd say they weren't the same.

We certainly could beat them that year; we led most of the game. In the end we didn't beat them, for reasons that I don't care to rehash.

Perkis-Size, don't try and talk football when you've never understand shit you clown. Let's ask ourselves the facts all over again why that game was lost. I swear it doesn't matter how many times you tell morons like yourself the facts, it still never sinks in. Unbelievable. Yeah the offense sputtered, turnovers and qb/runningbacks didn't do much to help. Not to mention the wide-receivers and tight-ends that disappeared but you have to look at the bigger picture. They were getting mauled all game and nothing was being done about it. The offensive lineman didn't know which way to turn because every little advantage they would've gained, would've been penalized. Man, you're fucking stupid.
RS freshman and Sophomores. There were like 5 first round draft picks on that team last year who were very well coached. Not too mention all of the talent that was on this years team who are all high probable draft picks. Then you finally throw in the same JT Barrett that has destroyed every team he's faced except Clemson in the past 4 years pretty much in any game that truly mattered. Just shut the fuck up once and see it for what it was. It was a highly talented bucnut team that had an insane crowd and referees on their side in their own stadium. Michigan was never going to win that game in any universe.

Where have I heard this before?
Head in hand in deep thought...taps fingers on forehead....deeper thought.....taps fingers on desk.....even deeper thought......slams fist into desk, curses, scares pets, sighs.
Got nothing but I know I have heard this somewhere!!!

Meyer will have no trouble replacing them. He lost three first round picks just from his defensive backfield, and didn't miss a beat. \
If people are waiting for a soft OSU team that we will be favored against, forget it. 2 losses is Meyer's floor there.

Including the Big Ten Championship. I wish someone would expose us like that.
And yes, if any team's quarterback could have completed more passes against their secondary, they would have had more yards. But they didn't.
December 31st, 2017 at 1:58 AM ^
Michigan schemed to get their receivers open. The M-QB on the other hand kept over- or under-throwing them. He had enough time to make the throws, in spite of the OSU pass rush. So yeah, one could argue that the secondary was their weak link.

merrier, I say
December 30th, 2017 at 2:38 PM ^
OSU had 12 drafted in 2016, the most of any power team since 1984, they did not seem to fall back. There is the possibility of 13 going this year. Hate to say it, but I don't think it hurts them too much. Only helps Meyers recruiting.

Based on the schedule, this team will either be great or the latter
My prediction is greatness in 2018 for Michigan!
Go Blue!

They were definitely worse in 2016 than '15. In '15 they were probably the best team in the country. In '16 they won a bunch of fluke games and then lost 31-0 in the playoff.

It never matters who goes pro there.
They are Alabama in a cold weather rust belt state.
It's quite impressive really that Meyer was able to do that. I never thought it would be possible.
How could midwest Big Ten Ohio State be higher up the food chain than USC or Texas or LSU or Florida or FLorida State or . . . ?
And when you look at their roster, they are not doing it with mostly Ohio talent like Tressel did. They are getting 5-star guys from around the country.
It's pretty amazing.
If I'm a 5-star kid from the Southeast or the Southwest, why would I want to go to Ohio State over all of my other options that are closer, warmer, have even lower academic standards, cheat better, have strong NFL pipelines, and have hotter women and nicer campuses?
But OSU is getting those guys.

fewer in-state players. He only took six in the last class, nine in 2016.
December 30th, 2017 at 6:40 PM ^
I'm not so sure Ohio has the rich recruiting talent they used to. I look at the class of 2018 and there are only 2 5-stars and 10 4-star players from Ohio. That seems low historically for OH. Of course, if OSU locks up most of those players that would be an outstanding class. If you look at 2019, it doesn't really get much better as there is currently only 1 5-star and 11 4-stars from OH. 2016 also had 12 4-stars or better while 2017 had a few more at 17.
Michigan, by comparison, has 7 4-stars in 2018 (no 5-stars). Right now the class of 2019 for MI has 1 5-star and 8 4-stars.
Georgia on the other hand is pretty sick with 41 4-stars or better in both 2018 and 2019. That is on par with FL, TX and CA. Could it be fair to say the OH HS football is currently closer to MI than GA? This could be what is driving OSU to recruit more nationally.

The meme that Meyer is taking extra advantage of being based in a talent-rich state is demonstrably false.

OSU is also in a very unique position where it has ZERO instate competition. Absolutely zero. Cincinnati, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ohio, none of them will ever compete for the instate recruits that OSU is in contention for. Kids in Ohio dream of growing up and playing only for OSU, so they get their pick of the litter.
December 30th, 2017 at 3:27 PM ^
LSU has no in-state competition either, in a state with comparable talent to Ohio. Georgia has considerably more talent and GT, while a Power 5 school, provides no competition for UGA in recruiting.

Louisiana produces the most NFL players per capita of any state. In total numbers they are somewhat behind Ohio, but only because Ohio has 2.5 times the population.
