Commitment on the Horizon?
A man on scout is claiming that De La Salle (CA...can we start a YTDLS for the school in Cali and a NTDLS for the school in Warren, MI? No? Fine.) DB JeVari Anderson is going to commit, contingent upon getting an 880 on his SAT this weekend. He looks like a solid athlete at the position who is not afraid to hit. Better yet, he is teammates with YTDLS Studs TE Devin Asiasi and DT Boss Tagaloa. I would say buckle up but I am not sure how long those test results will take, just interesting scuttlebut as of now.
Also, 3* Kathleen, GA QB Logan Byrd will visit this weekend after decomitting from VaTech (Scott Loeffler) today.

We are going after DBs hard. I think this indicates Durkin is going to have a man press defense- he seems to be going after a lot of DBs relative to the prior regime. Having talented DBs is essential for that type of aggressive coverage.
Going after DBs indicates we are going to play press?
No going after DBs mean we need DBs. Whatever your formation or technique you sort of need DBs to play the sport.
And almost our entire secondary graduates (or Peppers we assume leaves early) post 2016. Your 2017 roster of DBs right now are the grand total of Watson, Washington, Kinnel and Reon Dawson. (Peppers*)
This class will have 6ish secondary players because we have to rebuild the entire secondary in 2 years. We took 4 whole DBs the prior 2 years (and one of those might be declaring for the draft in 2 seasons). You need about 9 (4 S, 5 CB) just to reasonably fill out a nickel 2 deep. Press or no press (and it will be press) we just need secondary bodies and a ton of them after you account for attrition, injuries, and "just didnt make it at the college level") in these next 2 classes.
I agree. That's like saying going after more linemen means we're going to run power.

devolves into double post. Please ignore.
many at MgoBlog don't seem to realize that there is no MgoFAQ (here) rule on religion. "UNWELCOME, KTHX" in its entirety:
UNWELCOME, KTHX Politics Drew Sharp, Ace Williams, Mike Valenti. Saying stupid and/or false things about Michigan in order to get Michigan fans upset is a tried and true way to phish for clicks. Let's not feed the trolls.
In the comment section we find this:
politics and.. can we add religion to that. k?
followed by several joking comments, such as this one, exemplis gratis:
Can we add religion? Good question, let's pray about it.
You didn't come out and say "No Religion," but for all of those who have made this up and then repeat the voices in their heads as an established fact, there are no other MgoFAQ mentions of religion, NONE, just to set the record straight.
"No Religion" aside, I don't think your parallel example was strictly analogous. It would have been a better parallel to say "Harbaugh is going after CA DBs like Buddha goes after mulligatawny and Jesus after matzah," and I'm sure that some would get ruffled by that.
Before someone brings up "No Religion," I repeat: it may be respectful not to disparage religions, but it isn't MgoFAQ writ.

Harbaugh is "laying pipe"...
I like it.

Even more interesting, if 247Sports is accurate, is that this is another example of Harbaugh wandering off the main road, if you will, to find some promising recruits, a strategy which I definitely don't mind at all. So far, according to this, Anderson only has offers from Cal, Oregon State and Utah per the site (I wonder how often this is updated, so there's that too).
For the board, his Hudl link is here - LINK

880 probably is the minimum with around a 2.8 GPA.

24/7 and Rivals don't show a Michigan offer. Would he be a walk on then? Or is he staying changing his year to 2016 a la Wilton Speight?
Does anyone know the story on this? Strange that this is happening so late. He was offered by far less academic schools, and I wonder why he didn't sign with any of them. Do we even have an open scholarship w O'Korn (and pretty much Lyons) in the fold?

Seems like a sign.
So this is a 2015 recruit?
And you don't need to indicate YTDLS or whatever, it's Concord DLS or Warren DLS.

It usually takes about 2 weeks to get the results, and the NCAA only allows players to sign an NLI until April 1. So he has until the Wednesday before Easter to get things in order.

That's a good question. I'm not sure what the deadline is for a financial aid agreement. I believe it goes up until initial enrollment, but a player must also be enrolled to receive the financial aid and benefits of being part of the athletic program. So he would not be able to participate in fall practice until he's officially enrolled, IIRC.
I'd have thought at least a few highly rated guys would've jumped on board just because of Harbaugh
...but Harbaugh....
Yes, but as others have said in this thead, Harbaugh is offering players from California, Texas, and Florida who have never visited Michigan before and did not grow up in the geographic imprint of the rivalry. While he has offered a few Michigan/Ohio guys, many of those players are already being wooed by programs (MSU, OSU, etc.) that were vastly superior to Michigan for the past few years.
Kids generally aren't going to commit without visiting. The Keith Washington thing was a complete anomaly. You can't pull that off in February/March with 4- and 5-star guys.
For many of these kids, and they do not have the memories of what a great program we were to guide them, only the sucking of the last decade, therefore, they are going to want to see the team win on the field, partially because of the Brady Hoke fiasco, before they commit their college future to the promise of Harbaugh.
Michigan may get a few recruits before the season starts, but we are going to have to win on the field before recruits believe in the program again, and then they will start flocking to the banner like most of us thought they would. That is why winning on the field this season is so important for the program "Win and they will come."

"Je'Vari Anderson - As mentioned above, there are some academic concerns with Anderson. That said, he's at a program that can get him help, De La Salle, and the kid can hit. Oregon isn't short on safeties, but the talent is there. I'm told Oregon loves his game but is reluctant to offer based on his current grades."
http://oregon.247sports.com/Article/Five-Recruits-I-Would-Offer-if-I-wa…
Oregon, not exactly an academic powerhouse, is concerned about his grades, I'm not sure he'll be a great fit at Michigan.
Oregon came to my high school in 2002, set up a table in the gym, and said "bring your transcript showing you have a 2.7 and a check for 200 dollars, and we will enroll you on the spot."
