This is how it’s going to be for the next couple of weeks. At least until the season starts. Then everyone stops caring and everything goes back to normal, or they move on to the next outrage du jour.

Thats what OSU is banking on.

Everybody knew OSU would figure out a way to keep Urban, such a shithole of a university. On a side note, can anybody hook me up with the picture of Ohio state where the O’s are the dick ring and ball lifted? Trying to get that made into a shirt ASAP.

Haha, I meant Travis.  I remember a Travis catching some heat on CNN last year about a comment along the lines of "I believe in Freedom and Boobs."

Edit:  it was Travis, and it was actually "The 1st Ammendment and Boobs."

My apologies.

Still waiting for him to address those questions though.

But wow, that was great. A little self-promoting but his calling out the investigation and their response in this press conference is spot on. Media will be fun today watching everyone rip this apart. I honestly think that they could have taken a stand now and it would have gone away eventually for the university. Now it's not going away, and urban and gene and drake and others might all go down in the end.

The media that was in Columbus (and aren't total homers) are already pissed.

OSU wouldn't give them copies of the committee report until after the press conference. Of course now that they've read the report they've all found questions they wished they could have asked. And no one expects OSU to give them another shot at it.

They'd rather have an angry media drag this story out longer than risk having Meyer tell more verifiable lies.

His opinion is shared by MANY who aren't blatantly ignoring the issues here in favor of some enabler keeping his job so his precious scum of a school can keep winning on the football field.  He may at times be on the other side of some situations but this one he, and others, are on the side of right.  The side of protection.  The side of belief.  All that man had to do was back in 2015, see the pattern and tell Smith he's gone.  No, he kept him on and shielded him.  If BM hadn't done what he did, Smith would STILL be employed and none of us would be talking about this because it wouldn't have come to light.

The presser was a catastrophe, and the general manner in which OSU handled this was farcical at best. Just unbelievable.

....and yeah, not even releasing the report until after the presser, more than likely to prevent further damage than they already knew they had caused, was maddening and if I were a reporter, I would be livid.

I thought that I saw them handing out copies before the presser began.  I think people were reporting on it just before the presser began.  I'm not sure, but I had the distinct impression that some of the reporters' questions were working off the report.

Here's what I still don't get.  According to reports Meyer is required to report the allegations to the Title IX officer according to his contract.  Meyer never did this, he reported it to Gene Smith.  Gene Smith was also required to do so and did not.  Why isn't he fired for that again?

The most baffling thing is that they paid however much they paid for a report that clearly shows they should fire Urban and then decided not to do that, even though it's all there on paper.

I don't really think anyone actually ends up surviving this. They'll try, but this won't get better and I have a feeling their recruiting is going to nosedive.

If this becomes a thing where other schools can say 'hey Urban may not survive your four years' yeah it will hurt recruiting. 3 weeks of the entirety of national media shitting all over him and his character is going to have an effect, especially since Urban's Ohio State recruits outside of the state more than any other Ohio coach I can ever remember.

Locally they'll be kissing his ass, but down in Florida and whatnot? You're going to have three major programs and their recruits telling kids you can trust Urban look at how full of shit he is and you can't guarantee he won't end up pushed out. And with Taggart/Richt/Mullen in place, I think that pipeline closes.

Clay Travis is a borderline racist and misogynist who is always looking for some public acknowledgement.  I don't believe for one moment he actually cares about any of this or thinks OSU or Meyer  did anything wrong.
