CFB Risk Day 6 - This Feels a Lot Like Real Life (Sparty Gon' Die)
Tell me if this sounds familiar....
(1) Notre Dame ran off to the ACC to avoid the crush of the B1G
(2) Ohio State continues to be our biggest rivals, though our punches are a bit heavier now
(3) Michigan State got to pretend for a bit and is now falling apart
If it does, then you're a normal Michigan fan and/or you're paying a ton of attention to CFB Reddit Risk.
Now admittedly, the Notre Dame narrative is a stretch. Yes, they're quickly retreating from the Midwest, but it looks like they will die before ever sniffing the east coast. Tennessee has pushed north and Notre Dame had to win two battles where they were underdogs just to survive the night.
On the other hand, Ohio State is playing its part well. We managed to capture some territory in Ohio and Indiana, but Ohio State decided to perpetuate the ancient war and take Toledo back. They were underdogs, but not HUGE underdogs, and we grabbed Bowling Green as underdogs ourselves.
Just like in real life, if we're going to make inroads in Ohio, it will take time and manpower. But like in real life, it's worth it.
And now we come to Michigan State....
Remember how Michigan State looked really good for a few years while Michigan struggled to regain its identity? They even made it to the CFP (where they failed to score a single point)! But now that Michigan has recaptured its mojo, Sparty simply can't compete.
Well, it's a different stage with the same result. We were constrained for the first 4 days, but now that we're unleashed, the MGoHorde has driven Sparty out of the state and into the farther reaches of Canada. They've got Wisconsin to their West, Chaos to their North, a bunch of foes to their East, and we're pushing up from the South.
Sparty is going to die. It's their fate. It was always their fate. Let's do our best to contribute to that death, shall we?
Go Blue and f*ck everybody in our way (but especially Ohio State).

How Does the Game Work?
It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

Not being snarky, just honestly curious, how long does this Risk thing last anyways?

The first round went more or less until everyone kinda ran out of steam and just decided to end it. Round 2 (and subsequent rounds) have been capped at 50 days because by that point the map tends to reach a kind of equilibrium.

Until you’ve grown 50 days older.

50 turns - team with most territories at the end wins. Original idea was "last team standing", but that takes far too long with current rules.

I must have missed the explanation, but why were we constrained for the first few days? Were any other teams constrained as well?
January 26th, 2023 at 3:25 PM ^
the 8 teams that survived till the end in 2.0 were put on ice to give others a chance to get a start before getting squashed.

Yes, all eight teams that were still alive at the end of the last game had to hold off for the first three days and could only defend their home territory. That was us, Wisconsin, tOSU, Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Georgia Tech.
Now that there aren't any restrictions, seven of the eight are holding at least six territories (with Bama only having four after last night's roll). There are 42 teams left who haven't been eliminated, including Team Chaos; at this point Michigan is doing great but we can't get complacent.

Keep chopping Sparty, keep chopping.

can you win at this? or do you just do a little better each time?
also, why is wisconsin so powerful? i feel like they should be the next target. leave OSU for the end game just like in football

MOAR!

Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio State should ally together for the first 30 rounds. Wipe most everyone else out, then deal with each other.

About that...

Texas A&M will be under 100 players soon enough due to transfers :)

The reds all kind of blend in? Does Minnesota really take claim to Sinaloa Mexico?
