Damn this is a bummer. Hopefully we get someone to replace him on the O-Line (Garnett and Diamond). We need this recruiting class to max out with #'s and talent.
Good luck Caleb. Thanks for starting this class off on the right foot. Best of luck!

Interesting. He seemed very much on board recently.

I tend to agree.

Always got a place in my heart for the people that started the trend (committing right behind Braden)...hope he does well at Cincy.
I don't believe he was a "true center" either as people posted we lack bodies at. if i recall he just started playing center this year to help prepare him for Michigan. I would assume we look to do the same with one of our other commits (Garnett, yes please).

everyone here would say that Urgan cut him free to bring in another recruit.
Seems the same thing is happening here.
Need to make room for some combination of Garnet, Reeves or Diamond.

What is the basis for this? Do you have any links to Stacey saying something like this? Maybe, just maybe, he wanted to stay closer to home. Him leaving hurts Michigan, as he was the only true center we were recruiting, and our depth there is slim. Also, we don't need to cut people, we might not even fill our class at this point.
If Urban did this, people would say so because he has a history of doing so, and if he did it for this class, it wouldn't be one of his recruits. This was a player Hoke was recriting all along. It makes no sense to cut him loose now.

Where's the link to Meyer's history of doing that?
January 21st, 2012 at 6:02 PM ^
Double Post, not the other kind.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:25 PM ^
have no basis for this statement
January 21st, 2012 at 6:32 PM ^
because the guys that have departed OSU this winter haven't had elsewhere lined up immediately.

Don't know if you meant to write Urgan, but that's awesome.

I, for one, was looking forward to the stories about his character when he cracked the lineup as a starting centre.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:14 PM ^
Best of luck to him. Hope he has a great career at Cincy and enjoys his time there. It's kind of disappointing to have him leave this late in the recruiting cycle, but he had to make the decision that was best for him. I remember the post talking about how his mom cried when they visited and he committed to Michigan, seems like a great family and great kid all around. Best of luck in everything Caleb.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:18 PM ^
To the kid, if he wants to see the field and be a starter thus would be the best thing for him. I now believe Garnett and diamond committed.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:24 PM ^
Due to the fact that he's the only one who has been told that he'll be a center I'm not sure if playing time was the issue and I think his statement of staying close to home is sincere. Best of luck to him.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:35 PM ^
We miss the "paired commit" days and you started that trend.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:44 PM ^
Best of luck to him. Michigan is not for everyone. I hop he finds happiness I. Cinch.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:46 PM ^
Sorry Cincy. No edit on iPhone. Bad spell check, bad.
January 21st, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
I'm sorry the young man feels M isn't best for him. But let's face it. He's probably just leaving because he knows M is gonna pull in a couple more lineman who out-rank him. So everybody wins.
January 21st, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
No. You are wrong.

Maybe he will be cool enough to post on message boards with a name like lizard.

Kalis and Bars are really the only two that seem like fits.

How fast do you drive?
January 21st, 2012 at 7:39 PM ^
Have you ever heard a de-commit say he left because he's worried competition from other recruits at his position? No. They never say that.
Caleb is a three-star who committed early, no doubt unaware that the class would come to include perhaps the greatest o-line haul in the country. The timing -- including recent rumors about M getting both Garnett and Diamond -- is just too too.
And nobody on this board really knows what the coaching staff is thinking re who will play center down the line.
January 21st, 2012 at 7:33 PM ^
U C what happens, Larry?
Actually, nobody should smash anything. His future, his choice...at least he didn't defect to central Ohio.
January 21st, 2012 at 7:57 PM ^
Now we really need a Center in the next class.
January 21st, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
I think Dunn could switch to center and Urban Meyer could play QB
January 21st, 2012 at 8:37 PM ^
if they get both Diamond and Garnett I wonder if they move Bars to center to fill the depth at center until next year were they can push for either Cam Dillard and or Matt Miller (Jack Millers brother) to fill that spot.

my first ever.

Sad day when starting is more important than being part of something great.
January 21st, 2012 at 11:22 PM ^
I respectfully disagree... While I think a commitment should mean something I would personally rather start for Cincy than sit anywhere else. It's not like he went D-3.

7 days ago lots of Go blue tweets
5 days ago Coach Mark Smith visiting from Michigan
4 Days ago agrees to interview w/ Tremendous via twitter) .. sounds a little grumpy
1 day ago announces his car is now "i in my name" hmmm
Later that day...Going to Cincy

Who knows what happened but I would wager it went something like Kalis 5 Magnusson 4 Garnett 5 Diamond5 and you 3 at center and he saw how that looked.
