Brian mentioned it and now it's A Thing. None of us would know who Stitt was if it didn't get on the front page. I'd put it at a 0.1% chance he ever coaches in Ann Arbor in any capacity

You are right, Brian didn't "start" Bob Stitt, but like most things on his blog, he started all the talk of Bob Stitt. If he hadn't thrown out his name as a random, extremely unlikely candidate for the Michigan job I don't believe there would be any Bob Stitt talk around here.

Sumlin and Holgo have both given Bob Stitt credit, and he seems to be a quality coach. But I agree with Bordon, Stitt has become "a thing" on this blog. It amuses me that we have a board post about an article on a DII coach at Colorado School of Mines simply because Brian mentioned this guys name at one point.

There would be ZERO talk of Bob Stitt as a coaching candidate had it not been mentioned by Brian.

Bob Stitt is a very good coach . . . . along with roughly a dozen other Division II coaches with similar if not better resumes.

Stitt has always been a "cool club" thing among the college football blog cognoscenti--I know an obscure D-II coach therefore I know football sort of thing.

This entire Stitt meme in connection with Michigan is worthy of the Bleacher Report.

"Tell me I can't do something and I'll prove you wrong."

I wouldn't mind people here telling him he "can't win a National Championship at Michigan."

the current level he is at. (DII) Secondly, his record really is not that impressive. 90-57 with two conference titles in 13 plus seasons as a coach. He has coached in a grand total of 3 playoff games as coach of CSM.

Bob Stitt would make for an interesting OC candidate and that's it. Any thought of him as head coach is asinine in extremis.

Good one Magnus! I had to read a second time before I got it. I was wondering what kind of school won't let the coach yell....a Mime school! You have to admit though that he is doing a great job without top level talent. Think of the smartest people you went to school with, and then throw some football pads on them!

I assume most of the professors at the School of Mimes don't talk but couldn't the football coach talk? The players would all be Mimes in training and so couldn't respond but I assume the football coach wouldn't have to be a Mime and could therefore talk and yell like a normal coach.

Very thoughtful line of inquiry. Not sure if there are any NCAA rules that cover this or if there are regulatory authorities that govern the mime industry in general or more specifically the mime communities educational infrastructure. One thing for sure though - the mime, football , college industrial complex needs to be regulated to avoid "big mime" from corrupting our way of life.

There has to be a reason he isn't really moving up in the coaching ranks. 13 years at a D2 school? If he were really lighting it up in D2, someone would have offered him a job in D1 somewhere.

If you don't want Stitt here then don't tell Schlissel that he is winning with 134 engineering majors.

I've heard that the Prez loves him some academics.

Seriously, why would he be a bigger risk than anyone else in FBS to hire him as an OC, at least among available candidates?
