2022 CB Bobby Taylor names M to top 3

Katy (TX) Katy cornerback Bobby Taylor named Michigan to his top 3. He's a 4-star, the #25 cornerback, and #208 overall.

That's the good news.

But the son of former Notre Dame cornerback (and 2nd round pick) Bobby Taylor is expected to commit to Texas A&M.

Either way, Michigan wouldn't even be in the discussion if not for new co-DC Mo Linguist. Michigan hadn't offered until Linguist was hired.

Or saw 'em off ? (It's a pretty small emoji, but I think that's a bull)

BTW: when are they gonna change their fight song? They haven't played UT since 2011 and I don't know when they'll play again. It'd be like UM having a song about a rivalry with Chicago.

I’m pretty sure this is actually Taylor’s second top 3 as I think he originally had Bama, TAMU, and Michigan. I would also like to say that Michigan made Georgia 4 star TE Oscar Delps top 13. While it’s a top 13 I would definitely say that Michigan is near the top of that list with Georgia and Alabama. Also 11W Insider Andrew Ellis believes that Michigan leads for 4 star WR Kaleb Brown and that OSU has cooled on Brown. This is contrary to what Michigan Insider Steve Lorenz says who thinks that OSU leads and that they’re pushing hard for his commitment. So believe who you want.

Whether we get him or not, It’s encouraging to see more focus in that part of the country. We seem to have shifted our concentration from the East, since Don Brown was let go.

The problem is that everyone's recruiting Texas, whereas very few people are recruiting the Northeast very hard. Michigan has been able to get pretty much whoever they wanted from Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc. Michigan could feasibly offer 50 kids from Texas and not land a single one, whereas Michigan could offer 5 kids in Connecticut and land 3 of them.

Then of course there's the question of quality, but Michigan has done pretty well in the Northeast with their evaluations.

I think the quantity thing has gone both ways. For all the complaining that fans have done regarding Brown's Northeast focus, it is true that we've done a good job hitting on those players. For me though, one of the issues is that there simply aren't enough quality players in the NE to fill the holes that have been developing on our roster. So it's great that we've been pulling some hidden gems out of the region the past few years, but unfortunately there haven't been nearly enough to keep the team thriving.

Really, I think the anger regarding the NE focus isn't so much about recruiting the NE itself, but the fact that our recruiting has been slipping in most other regions; the NE is just an easy target.
