MSU fan yelling 'Go Green, Go White' punched several times on U-M's campus
How do you go here and not be a fan of Michigan? I could see it the other way around but geez even if he was an MSU fan why would you do that?
I enrolled at OSU and am still a diehard Michigan fan. Blood is thicker than diplomas. What's funny, though, is that this student obviously got into MSU as well. So there was a decision made that even though their family was comprised of MSU fans, Michigan was clearly the better school. Michigan fans at MSU typically don't have that choice.

Is that why you went to OSU?

I never applied. My ACT score was very solid, but my grades were not exactly outstanding. I fell neatly into the "did not apply himself" role. I went to a JuCo out of high school to play soccer, got some definite interest from 4 years schools, but promptly failed a tennis class and art appreciation, among other low scores. I simply didn't go to classes.
My priorities were soccer, girls, booze, sleep, then school - in that order. After working a few years and growing up, I got a 4.0 through a year and a half at CSCC. At that point, my GPA was above 3.0 and my ACT scores still qualified, and I was accepted at OSU. I enrolled at OSU, but never went. I was given a job offer that basically nullified the need for more school.
So there, that's the story of my life. I wish I could go back and smack my younger self, as I could have done a lot more, both academically and athletically. Now I'm a gimpy, hobbled 29 year old. I'm likely going to need to finish a 4 year degree to continue on my career trajectory, but at this point, having a family done made me growed up, so no more failing tennis classes.

So what you're saying is, you ain't go to school to play class, and that's why you picked Ohio State.
2am on a Saturday night, you decide to go undercover Sparty? You are asking for some sort of issue. Might as well head to Columbus and start yelling Go Blue after the bars close, likely ends much worse.
I knew a guy who was a lifelong MSU fan who went to Michigan and was a total d-bag about it his whole four years here. Even wore red to an OSU game.
I guess this kid underestimated how much making good on his stupid bet was going to suck.
Was he yelling it mocking some MSU fans visiting Ann Arbor after MSU lost to Uconn, then they beat him up? ;)
"The Diagonal"
This reeks of a frat hazing stunt.
what a dumbass
So a kid mouthed in the middle of "enemy territory" and is surprised someone took offense? This is what the internet generation is made of: people who will say anything they wish without fear of ever having to back it up. Tough break, kid. Next time, use your head.
I think it says more about the state of journalism that this made news. The headline should have read: "Man gets what he wanted."
If you drop the "Go Green, Go White" angle this "news story" drops to a bullet point on the Police Report section of the local news circular.
What I got from this is that young, intoxicated males find reason to get into a fight.
A more gratuitous grab for page-clicks I haven't seen for a while. Non-story.
Gotta say that I'm kind of disgusted by a lot of the replies on here. If, instead of a guy yelling 'Go Green Go White' who got popped in the mouth, it'd been a girl in a mini-skirt and haltertop who got groped would we be saying 'Well, if she didn't want to get felt up she shouldn't have been dressed up like that?' Because this is what it sounds like. Maybe let's stop focusing the victim just because he cheers for the wrong team and focus on the guy who decided to repeatedly punch the guy for wearing the wrong colors on U-M's campus? Because God knows we'd get up in arms about someone in maize and blue getting roughed up on High Street.
This is asking to get punched. There is no outfit such that wearing it is equivalent to asking to be raped.
Yes, there is absolutely no outfit that should ever justify a woman being raped. And that's umpteen orders of magnitude more severe than this incident but at the same time to heap blame on the guy who got punched because he was chanting an MSU cheer reeks of the same victim-blaming mentality. There've been a lot of people questioning the actions of the punchee, but I kind of think that the actions of the guy WHO ACTUALLY COMMITTED THE ASSAULT are just a little worse.
