Game Day Weather

Submitted by mgoweather on November 4th, 2022 at 11:09 AM

It's another night game! Woohoo! A large high pressure system off the East Coast will bring in some southeasterly airflow, so it won't be the prettiest start to Saturday with clouds and the chance for drizzle. But the afternoon will feature some sun and warm temps and we look to stay mild and dry throughout the game. Their weather certainly looks a lot better than what we'll see here! Let's go blue!

If you're headed to Piscataway...

Tailgating

Not a very pretty start to the day! Gray skies to begin our Saturday with a light wind generally out of the S. We'll see patchy fog and some spotty mist/drizzle so you may want to grab the just-in-case poncho if you'll be out early setting up the tailgate - no one wants to sit next to someone who smells like wet dog by the end of the day lol :D If you traveled for this one, this would be a great morning to support a local restaurant for breakfast. Grab your sunglasses/hat too because it won't look like this all day! It will be mild with morning temperatures in the mid 50s! We'll warm to around 70 degrees by lunchtime with more of the sun making an appearance. Winds will be southerly, picking up to 5-10mph throughout the morning (just enough to rustle the leaves). Sun & clouds for the afternoon with a S wind up to near 15mph at times, so you might see some small branches move. Highs will be in the mid 70s so hopefully you grabbed your favorite t-shirt! This is one of those tailgates where you'll want to watch how long the potato salad has been sitting out, and make sure you have the koozies to keep your brewskis cold. Good weather will continue into the early evening if you're trying to grill up dinner! You'll see some cloud cover but temps will hang out in the low 70s as we get started packing up to head to the game.

Kickoff

69 degrees in SHI stadium as we get this game going! Not too shabby! Skies will be partly cloudy with southerly winds near 10mph. No doubt we'll see some stars in the sky and on the field as the night goes on!

Halftime

No hot chocolate breaks needed for this halftime! Anyone up for a cold drink? Temperatures will be in the upper 60s by then with some clouds. Winds will be near 10mph, so just a lighter breeze, staying generally out of the south.

Post-Game

Cheers to another win! Low 60s leaving the stadium and walking back to the car. More clouds will begin to move in, turning us mostly cloudy for the late night. We won't see much change if you're planning on staying out late to celebrate! Winds will drop to around 5mph and remain there into Sunday morning. A reminder that this is when we turn the clocks back at 2am, so it'll be last call-not last call and the lights will stay on for another hour! Sunday will be warm and dry with highs in the 70s and clouds moving out - good for traveling! Or if you got a ride home after that extra hour of toasting to the win and are getting back to your car :) Go blue!!

If you're staying in Ann Arbor...

We're not going to be as blessed in the weather department here in A2. :( Instead we have a cold front moving across the state which will keep us under plenty of clouds and bring scattered showers. Temperatures won't be too bad, we'll see afternoon highs near 70 (!) and drop to the mid 60s towards game time if you're heading out to watch the game. We're then into the mid 50s by the late-night as clouds decrease. The big story for tomorrow will be the winds! Very windy here with steady winds at 15-25mph and gusts near 50mph possible. Winds that high can veer your vehicle, so take it easy if you'll be on the roads. Winds start to go down Saturday night and gusts on Sunday will be near 30mph if you're coming back from the East Coast. Let's keep adding to that win column! Let's go blue!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!

Thanks for the update, as always.   Great conditions for the Maize & Blue game on Saturday evening.

There is a bit of personal disappointment for me.  I had been hoping for a bit of rain, wind, and cooler temperatures - just south of Niles, Michigan (specifically, South Bend); however, it appears the weather conditions won't be as challenging as they might have been.  It looks like temps in the 50's, moderate wind, and dry conditions.

Go Blue!

Many National Weather Service Offices have Wind Advisories up for nearly all of Indiana, Illinois and part of Wisconsin to tomorrow. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph will be common during many of the B1G football games including Evanston (NW), West Lafayette (Pur), Bloomington (IU), Champaign (Illini) and Madison (U-Wisc) will result on a high impact of those games played.

The night game in South Bend with Clemson @ ND will have lower wind speeds but still blustery.

Good thing the Maize and Blue are playing on the East Coast.

Thanks for the update.  Brought my shorts and t-shirt with me for tomorrrow afternoon and a sweatshirt for later in the game.

Weather sounds perfect for the 3:30 start but better than last week for the night game.

My forecast for 11/26 in Columbus will be periods of heavy rain mixed with sleet with  highs around freezing along with a north gale of 40 MPH and a Michigan win 22-13! The weather will help us win! And it will be great that the running game will out do the passing game!
