One Frame At A Time: Citrus Bowl
Jim Harbaugh saved his best for last.
After a Florida defender committed an obvious facemask on Amara Darboh, Harbaugh sprinted down the sideline screaming for a call, gesticulating the whole way.
You may note a brave player—by the arm sleeve, I believe it's Jabrill Peppers—tried to get Harbaugh's attention when he reached the offical. Harbaugh, too deep into rage mode to notice, proceeded to scream "HEY, THEN CALL IT. YOU CALLED IT? YOU CALLED IT? WELL, OKAY."
Sealing this as my favorite Harbaugh GIF of the year is the scoreboard chyron showing that a flag was down the whole time.

Johnson TD pitch with Kerridge and Cole leading the way.
Johnson TD and heel click.
Kenny Allen tackles Vernon Hargreaves.
WTF, ESPN.
Worst fake field goal ever.
Worst fake punt ever.
Channing Stribling diving PBU.
Insane Graham Glasgow blitz pickup.
Smith backside cut.
Smith run with great blocks from Mags and Houma.
Jones/Johnson handshake and dab.
Henry destroys center.
Grant Perry touchdown.
Butt first down signal.
Wormley sack.
Houma juke.
Lewis PBU.
The Kingdom.
15. Tongan Terror Touchdown
Houma definitely earned a spot. I could've gone with his juke on Caleb Brantley, but I loved the raw emotion after his touchdown, which completed the troika for The Kingdom.
14. Dad Big Air High Five
Peak dad celebration.
13. Harbaugh Freakout (Not That Harbaugh Freakout)
Also good.
12. Brian Cole Is On TV
Hello, Brian.
11. Treonooooooo
Michigan's quarterback play was juuuuuuuust a bit better than Florida's.
10. Jehu, Destroyer Of Holds
Not bad for his second-best catch of the day.
9. Totally Unnecessary But Nevertheless Impressive Frontflip
That's one way to avoid a late hit penalty.
8. Heel Click
This is a great touchdown celebration that I hope nobody else steals and runs into the ground. Let it be Drake Johnson's thing, please.
7. Ref Doink
Can't say the official wasn't doing his job here; he's so locked into the play he doesn't notice the ball is on a laser-guided path to his neck.
6. Confetti!
Even dads have their moments of child-like wonderment.
5. De'Veon Smith 2.0
Upgrades to vision and cutting brought to you by Wheatley Technologies, a Harbaugh Corporation.
4. Didn't Count, Doesn't Matter
Unsolicited advice for next year's QB: when in doubt, throw it high.
3. In The Face
He took it well, at least.
2. Hitch And Gone
To clear up a misconception, the coach celebrating while the ball is still in the air is not Jim Harbaugh, though that part is great regardless. Another angle that captures the "oh shiiiiii" moment for Vernon Hargreaves:

Useless post. Don't you read the rules?
I can't get enough of the Glasgow insane blitz pick-up.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:23 PM ^
The Glasgow one might be my favorite. Also can't believe how bad Chesson juked Hargreaves.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:39 PM ^
Don't know how Chesson didn't get called for this. He completely decieved Hargreaves into thinking it was a short post route. I guess it's a judgement call though.
Also, Rudock could have been called too because he acted like he was going to throw it short, then threw it long. Michigan got away with this one.
January 5th, 2016 at 4:24 PM ^
the exact same thing as that play happened: INTENT TO DECEIVE!!!!!!!! :)

Like when Harris was getting sacked by Taco and threw the ball out of bounds short of the line of scrimage? I believe the ACC ref stated "The player intended to throw the ball out of bounds but the ball slipped out resulting in a incompletion"? Excuse me? Isnt that like saying "the runner fumbled the ball but his intention was to gain an extra two yards before the ball fell out resulting in a down"?

This needs 1,000 more upvotes. Or maybe that's the whiskey talking. Either way. I'm enjoying.

There, fixed it for you. You've been around quite some time, young man. You should know better.

if Chesson's catch didn't count, it was fantastic. He should wear the #1 next year.

"YOU CALLED IT? WELL, OKAY THEN" should be the new tagline of this blog.

In Harbaugh's defense, there were two penalties on the play. The first, and the one for which the 'flag' marker was activated, was for defensive offsides -- it was a free play. The official nearest Darboh did not call the facemask. Instead, the linesman on the near side of the field made the call from about 40 yards away. He was the same person who had thrown his flag for offsides, so he threw his hat instead. It was very easy to miss.
My entire section was screaming for the penalty to be called, and I was trying to explain that it had been called, but since the throw of a hat for a penalty is relatively rare, and since the hat was thrown so far away from the play, nobody really noticed. (I noticed only because there was a hatless official running at full speed toward Darboh, and I was able to infer why).
(For those curious, an official who sees a third penalty on a play is to throw his beanbag. I've never seen this happen. I don't know what is supposed to happen for a fourth penalty, or for a play with three penalties and a fumble or two penalties and a player running out of bounds :-).
January 5th, 2016 at 1:57 PM ^
Exactly right.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:12 PM ^
In your last scenario, they should rip off their shirt Harbaugh style and throw that.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:18 PM ^
that would be the hatless ref you see running up to, then away from the guy who's about to get chewed out by Harbaugh (I think I can lip read "face mask" as part of what he says)

i liked it.

Was Peppers on his phone on the sideline in the Cole .gif?
January 5th, 2016 at 2:06 PM ^
Yeah and a lot of people were mad about it for some reason.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:12 PM ^
Probably because he doesn't need to be on his phone during a game. I guarantee the coaches don't appreciate it.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:13 PM ^
Agreed.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:33 PM ^
Why so quick to jump to negativity? There is so much you can do on a phone now.. He could have been taking pictures or getting a text from family you never know. The kid has been working hard all year (much more work than I have put in) and people are going to get mad because he was on his phone?
Hopefully my /s meter was off

For all we know, he's got the ESPN feed of the game, and is watching replays to know when to go tap Harbaugh on the shoulder and go, "Um...coach...."
January 5th, 2016 at 3:00 PM ^
You serious, Clark?
January 5th, 2016 at 4:15 PM ^
dude.
They walk on lawns too, ya know.
January 5th, 2016 at 5:58 PM ^
He could really easily be communicating with recruits too. Or if that is not allowed, than 'friends' of recruits (I honestly don't know what the communications limitations are with active players).
If he knows he isn't going to be called on to get in the game, that is one of the more valuable things he could be doing.
Bringing a cell phone onto the sidelines is not going to be missed by staff, or the national TV cameras. While it is possible that he smuggled the phone in, I think it's more likely that it was allowed.
January 5th, 2016 at 2:57 PM ^
He'd just put a call in to Pat Haden.

Regarding the Harbaugh explosion, Ace says, "Sealing this as my favorite Harbaugh GIF of the year is the scoreboard chyron showing that a flag was down the whole time."
True, A flag was down the whole time, but that chyron was up the entire play because Florida was offside.
It appears the Line Judge that threw the offside flag had to run back to the spot of the facemask/P.I./mugging and throw his hat. Thus Harbs didn't see any yellow and wasn't aware the call was made. Hilarity ensued.
January 6th, 2016 at 5:59 AM ^
Thanks for the clarification. That's what I remembered as well -- the flag was for the offsides call. Didn't Rudock also get an elbow mashed onto his face while he was on the ground, on the same play? (Edit: I think it was same drive, different play.)
Florida didn't strike me as going in with any "let's try to end some football careers" barbarism like Michigan State; first half was quite clean. In the second half, though, I felt like they channeled a little too much frustration into their play and this was the point where it was starting to seriously annoy me.
I will say that at least it felt like the referees were much better than the asshats in the B1G. Could be a grass is greener thing but nothing struck me as particularly egregious and I was 100% OK with UF's sideways pass being ruled incomplete and not intentional grounding. And they did call the facemask.
January 5th, 2016 at 1:57 PM ^
Some of the other GIFs here are maybe more fun, but the who-are-you-and-what-have-you-done-with-the-real-De'Veon Smith performance had me laughing out loud the whole game

Needs moar Kerridge destroying people's world.
January 5th, 2016 at 4:40 PM ^
On the Deveon 2.0 play, watch Kerridge block the guy at roughly the same speed that Smith is running with the football. :)
This should be a new measurable: 40 yard dash while blocking a 230lb guy that is trying to resist. :)
Joe Kerridge - 4.6, while his normal 40 time is 5.1. :)

And yet he's still out there being his fiery self, screaming at the refs, protecting his players. HARBAUGH!!!
January 5th, 2016 at 2:07 PM ^
Did not realize how good those De'Veon Smith cuts were. The broadcast angle discounts how much lateral quickness he demonstrated there. If he can do that on the regular next season then he won't be BJ Askew--he'll be Chris Perry.
While I'd like to see more speed at the position, if Smith can run like he did against the Gators consistently, I can't see anyone else being our primary ball carrier next year.

Not seen here, but he later follows up by putting his hat back on in a single, violent motion.

I love how he instinctively and effortlessly knocks back his headset to reach his hat, as if he has a standard freakout protocol that he's internalized.

At the end of the Honorable Mention "Smith Backside Cut" GIF, Jake Butt donkeys #31, Jalen Tabor, right into the pile. And then gives him an extra shove, for fun. +1 Jake.

That is awesome. Also, Chesson comes sprinting in all the way from the other side of the field to see whom he can hit. Great hustle.
And on the other Smith one, the one where Ace credits Mags and Houma with great blocks, I like AJ Williams's block too.
