At least I don't think he went in did he?

As well as the game went, it wouldn't surprise me if we put him in on special teams.

I pictured opening up the site, and there just being a big black armband across the screen, with just BG lit up in the corner.

I agree, this is going to be bad. Really really bad.

That game today, that shit was real. THAT ended badly. This will just be a lot of RABBLE RABBLE no, you! RABBLE RABBLE...
January 1st, 2011 at 8:11 PM ^
Wait, is RR going to Maryland? Why shouldn't Brady Hoke come here? THIS IS MICHIGAN...ANGAR.
Seriously though, that game was not fun to watch. It's depressing to think I haven't seen Michigan play in anything other than an ass whooping since Purdue.

Apparently, Nixon had a speech ready in the event of a "moon disaster." Pretty chilling to read, even in its beauty.

Had a letter ready?

good pull.
January 2nd, 2011 at 9:34 AM ^
That is fantastic - thank you for posting it. And thank you for taking my mind off the debacle that was yesterday's game for a moment or two.
Side note. Wouldn't you think a Poli-Sci major graduating from U of M in 1981 would've at least HEARD about this non-speech during his matriculation from our school? Well I must've either been hung-over, stoned or skipped that class cause this was the first I knew of it's existence.
I wonder how many other "wow was that ever a problem" type speeches were drawn up and never delivered?
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
on DDay had two letters written up for POTUS explaining the options should they be successful or unsuccessful. I also remember a piece about Lincoln having a martial law declaration ready to go pending the result of Gettysburg, and George HW Bush preparing a speech to the nation should Reagan not have made it out of surgery after the assasination attempt in the early 80's.
January 2nd, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
They always prepare two speeches. Partly so they aren't rushing to get something out if the worst happens, but also because it's tempting fate not to prepare for either outcome.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:51 PM ^
Had a month to prepare, and the defense is still lost, and regardless of DC, that is the head coach's fault. Also, some of the offensive calls were not good (a couple go for it all calls on third down instead of getting the first come to mind) and that also is on Rodriguez, b/c there have been calls like that all year. It seemed to me that some of those calls killed the rythym the offense had established. Oh well, couple days from now, we get "the decision" and then more crap to bitch/analyze.
Happy new year!!
January 2nd, 2011 at 7:45 AM ^
Yeah, even the crappy ESPN2 announcers were pointing out the fact all game, that the M defenders couldn't seem to line up properly, get on the field when they were supposed to, etc. RR's saving grace was supposed to be the incredible offense, which seems to be, once good teams figure it out and make adjustments, RR has no counter to the adjustments. By then, M is 24 points behind, and out goes most of the playbook.
Undersized is what I kept thinking, not only about the D, but the offense as well. MSU got away with more one arm tackles than I cared to count, one arm grab and down in a heap. MSU's ball carriers would just run over and through our defenders. 52-14 against a mid level SEC opponent, could you imagine the bloodbath if M played Bama? Oh crap, we do in '12.
Oh well, that's my rant.
January 2nd, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
Based on how we got manhandled (not to menthion the way little bro got pantsed by Alabama), not only will we have to hear "ZOMG ESS EEE CEE SPEEEED!!!!11!1!1eleven", we'll get to hear "ZOMG ESS EEE CEE STRONNNNNNNNG!!!!" now too. Outstanding.

... in slow motion.
We looked small, slow, weak and intimidated. Couldn't kick or catch, couldn't throw or tackle.
You know it's a lost cause when you are spending more time over at the Sparty game, hoping Saban can shut out Mirthless Mark Dantonio.
When there is no compelling reason to continue course, change is the only option. I think DB was wise to hold up giving grades until after the final exam. Tate isn't the only one to have his status with the program unclear at this point.
And those mo-ther fuck-ing cowbells...

Yup. MSU's 250 pound linebackers were as quick and changed direction as fast or faster than our 200 pound safties.
The disparity was pretty stark today.

7-6 with a bowl appearance doesn't feel quite like I would have expected it to before the season began.
January 1st, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
start of the season so I am not surprised. Still, it was a disappointing end to an up and down season.
January 2nd, 2011 at 10:02 AM ^
is because we expected at least one of the 7 to be against somebody big, and we expected some of the 6 to be competitive.
January 2nd, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
I think it's more the latter than the former, at least for me. I don't think there's anything wrong with winning the ones you're supposed to win and losing the ones you're supposed to lose as long as the losses aren't too ugly. The 10-20 point losses where we were in catchup mode all day were bad enough, but the 30-point blowouts are really disturbing.
If we had gone 7-6 like Illinois with some frustrating losses and no signature wins but only one loss by more than 11 and none by more than 20, I don't think people would be nearly as down on the coaches.
