Schembechler Hall practice field ripped out (photos)
After leaving Alumni Field following Michigan's 6-0 shutout win over Maryland, I stopped to look at the practice field as I always do on the walkway out to the Crisler lots where I was park and saw this.
The Schembechler Hall practice fields that were installed in 2008 or 2009 have been removed.
Michigan Stadium will get a new turf field this summer, replacing the Duraspine surface installed in 2010.

Last two practices all inside Glick then. Good shots.

Not sure what's remarkable about a guy going to a 6pm softball game on a Friday night. I mean, I wouldn't choose to do that with my time frequently, but it's an evening game that a lot of jobs don't overlap. How and where do YOU make money?

I applaud anyone who takes the time to go support ANY Wolverine sport...How judgemental of you..What you choose to do with your time is YOUR business but to criticize others? not cool

I dunno, why not just appreciate the contribution and move on? The guy is dedicated to Michigan sports. So am I, so I appreciate that.
Nailed It!
Basically, don't be a tool for the sake of being a tool.

I would like to ask this question myself, but I will mean it in a lot less of a condescending way, because I'm legitimately interested what job allows WD to do all this and make money. Whatever it is, sign me up!
I want to have that much free time and get that much gear and go to that many games!
Go Blue!

Anyone know what surface they are installing?
The color maize will be really interesting. The 2003 install was way too orange; the last install matched the brighter Adidas color well and I liked it, but the new maize on the unis once again clashed.

I know it won't happen but blue endzones would be cool.
Blue endzones should remain a bowl game thing. That just adds to the speciality of it and makes it cool.
Let's not make them the norm, the current endzones are timeless.
They have sucked forever.
The only opinion on M endzones that really matters is Harbaugh's. Holy shit they could be black!
As long as we're in it. Frequently.

Maybe it's just my computer/browser, but I'm not seeing any photos. Are they there for anybody else right now?
There are a couple of them.
The pics are nice shots of a frost covered expanse of dirt through fence slats. But its pretty cool to see if you're a junkie addicted to Michigan football...
Last weekend they put up fencing for a construction staging area betweem Schem. and Yost. So we assumed something in the football HQ for the 3rd time in 5 years (it seems). What's up WD...inquiring minds need to know? (Before anyone says "It's for the new turf install, duh" it's on the the other end of the building, with no easy access to the outdoor fields).
I think they're beginning construction on the football performance center. More info here: http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2017/09/check_out_renderings_for_new_f.html
Makes sense they would want the practice turf to closely match the feel of the new turf in the stadium.

Artificial turf has a lifespan of 8-10 years so it makes sense it's getting replaced now. I'd imagine Glick is going to get a new field as well once spring practice concludes.
