Quick football note
On the injury front, Kareem Walker has joined a few that are dinged up. He appears to have an ankle injury. The severity is unknown. However, that has opened up RB3 competition. Ambry Thomas has shown off his talent in the early going in the secondary.
McElwain and Warriner have made their presence known. McElwain is very intense as he was getting after the WR group (mostly positive) and Warriner has been chewing up the OL. JKP has stood out along with a few others like Milton. Joe doesn't look or act like a true Freshman.
There were 4 guys that ran with 1's consistently so far on defense (Gary, Chase, K. Hudson, and Hill). On the offensive side of the ball there were just too many players getting reps to really get a feel other than Bredeson, Ruiz, Onwenu, and DPJ.
So you're saying this team will also be in the final four? Perfect
means that two national champs will equal national champs in football. As is the rule.

I couldn't fit "in the span of" in the subject line. Fail.
And a hockey school.
And a pretty good school school.
Go Blue!
with some great sports programs.

Wrestling, swimming, baseball, softball and now...Lacrosse.
And if this was not a sports blog I would also mention medicine, law, business, physics, education, engineering, architecture, dentistry, life sciences, social work. The list is endless.
Looking forward to seeing Thomas, Martin, and Singleton this year.
"not" healthy last year?
Correct, back injury. Plus then the coaches decided to redshirt.
about this injury. Thanks!
Yes, it reads as related but Samuels is the next RB up. They're not going to give Thomas that pounding.
It's "screen door on a submarine" Biff.
I thought the new saying was "make a like a tree and fiddy?"

I know what we saw of him in game time was very limited but he just didn't look like he had it.
Did he do well in practice?

Higdon is pretty good but far from elite and I don't see him getting much better, save for pass pro. We haven't had a RB get drafted since Mike Hart in 2008! I don't know if Higdon breaks that streak but if he does I'd be shocked if its before the 6th round. He is an UDFA at this point.
I'm not giving up on anybody but maybe 30% or less of RB recruits pan out? There is only 1 starter per position. Many of our guys will never make a significant impact on the field. Trying to predict how depth shakes out isn't giving up on anyone anymore than Harbaugh making a guy 3rd or 4th string.
And it is true out of all positions RB is one of the most likely where you can show out as a freshmen if you're really good.
It doesn't read as related if you have a shred of common sense and aren't deliberately obtuse. Thomas is a 170 lb high potential CB and we're stacked at RB. You're being too charitable DMT.

I'm way more interested in the punter. The punting game last year was bad.

this team will be so good, we won't have to punt all season
1 - He needs to find a way to stay healthy. Can't get on the field from the trainers room.
2 - Because of his lack of experience the game still move pretty fast for him and he looks to try to the 10 run home run every time he touches the ball. Getting him enough experience to slow the game down would be a step in the right direction for him, IMO.
Not sure what you were watching, but I saw some tough, decisive running. He didn't get a ton of carries, but his limited carries showed immense growth compared to his first year.
