Michigan Bball on National Network TV 2017-18 season
Michigan has performed well on the national stage this year; great for our brand, recruiting, and for us die-hard Wolverine fans. Eat your heart out USA...
Saturday 12/2 vs. Indiana on CBS W 69-55
Saturday 12/9 vs. UCLA on CBS W 78-69 (OT)

We need to play as well when the big spotlight is not on. Still, well done men.

Unrelated but is the tiebreaker with Nebraska head-to-head? They are losing in Champaign at the moment.

unfortunately, that is the case. It is looking very unlikely we get the 4 seed. But as the 5 seed, I think we get to warmup against 12/13 winner b/f facing 4 seed (probably Nebraska).

Yeah. PSU @ home not a gimme. Ours are certainly not gimmes either though.

I think if Nebraska wins out their regular season they are in by virtue of other bubble teams likely losing and simply because they would deserve it. A loss today puts them in dangerous territory.

Nebraska has outscored Illinois 16-4 since the post......
Bad juju....

Cable vs. network was my distinction
February 18th, 2018 at 4:25 PM ^
ESPN is basically national, but I get what you mean. Might be good to modify the content slightly to "national network tv."
BTW this is good info, don't mistake this for a dig.

And updated. Many people can't afford cable/ ESPN, perhaps some recruits included. Thanks Stephen!

the following teams in our vicinity lost yesterday:
23 Oklahoma (vs Texas)
21 Texas AM (@ Arkansas)
20 West Virginia (@ Kansas)
18 Tennessee (@ Georgia)
Today 19 Wichita is down early @ 5 Cincinnati.
Coupled with our win against 8 Ohio State, we are primed for a decent jump well into the teens, 15-17 is my guess.
In B1G news, Illinois vs Nebraska is going on right now and Penn State visits Purdue (-10 which seems high) this evening. Hopefully Purdue can take PSU down a peg before we visit the Nittany Kitties Wednesday.

Is Trae Young going to even make the tourney?
February 18th, 2018 at 4:31 PM ^
I'm not a Trae Young fan but the possibility of him getting hot for a weekend could be entertaining. They are 2-8 in their last 10, lost 5 in a row and are @KU Monday. It's not looking good considering their current trajectory, but they do have some nice wins from a couple months ago.

You've probably watched him more than I have (tuned in a couple of times to see what he was about, didn't watch long enough to get a good feel about whether or not I should be impressed), is this a case of teams figuring out how to play against him and his team, or just a downturn in play? My understanding is that Oklahoma is basically Young and some guys.
February 18th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
His shooting % has dipped while attempts have increased. His scoring is still high but it's because he's taking 30 shots a game. I'm not a scout so I can't say for sure how great the supporting cast is, but my guess is that if they were talented, he wouldn't be taking the vast majority of shots.
I bet if MAAR took 30 shots a game, he'd have a bunch of points but I doubt Michigan would win consistently playing that way.

Little known fact. Trae Young is the boy Doctor Richard Nimble saved and took a particular interest in his X-Ray film.
(Ignore the fact the kid is probably in his late 30s, doesn't fit my narrative).

Looks like literally the EXACT opposite of the football team...
In all seriousness though, this is a very encouraging record and shows the power this basketball team has. Time to keep those big game performances going for each game!
