Hearing? a? rumor? that? Grant? Perry? will? grad? transfer? Can? anyone? confirm?
After all, it's not how many ... it's where you put them.
February 11th, 2018 at 12:43 PM ^
Does it matter? He has hardly contributed to anything significant. I dont think it will help with scholarships this year, but playing and pratice time will be devoted to the younger WR's on the roster.....
February 11th, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
Well, we're over the limit right now, so any departures would help us get down to 85.

February 11th, 2018 at 1:32 PM ^
We're at 87 or 88, depending on whether you view Elysee Mbem-Bosse as gone or not. So far that has not been officially announced by him or the team, AFAIK.
February 11th, 2018 at 2:52 PM ^
was his just for 1 year?
thought Dwumfour red-shirted
same for Long
Black likely to get his red-shirt

but I don't see him staying around for what would be a normal senior season. He should have his degree by then inasmuch as he was allowed a lot of extra academic time this past season.. Couple that with the fact he proved, in a very short period of time, he was the most advanced route runner of all the freshmen - Bless that damn good h.s. coaching - and I believe in three years, 2018 included, Tarik will be one of the most desired wrs in the draft should he choose that option after the '20 season.
I don't know how much weight to give to the Ollie rumors, but with the collection of wrs we have coming back with natural progression alone, both they and the qb position will look incredibly better in the year 2018 for the Michigan Wolverines.

I did not know this. I really have not payed much attention this recruiting cycle...
Thanks!

How?? Explain? Crawford and DPJ are better inside, Black (arguably the best WR on the roster) is back on the outside, Collins and Martin deserve more opportunity moving forward. Agian, I'd rather have the youngs taking those snaps.
February 11th, 2018 at 12:59 PM ^
Crawford and DPJ don't have the route running ability that Perry does. It's that simple. Both are better athletes, but that doesn't make them better receivers. There was probably more going on than we knew about with Perry's lack of time on the field.

February 11th, 2018 at 1:09 PM ^
Crawford has trouble catching the football.
February 11th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
but Perry is out there getting thrown the sme ducks and somehow manages to bring it in and hold on to it.

February 12th, 2018 at 9:31 AM ^
issue, I really can't think of why he is not equal to better than Perry.
Too many people on here consider catching ability and getting open/ route running as what defines a reciever as good or not. I'm with OP and others here that are brave enough to define who's better without caring about who can catch the ball or get open.
February 11th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
Perry runs excellent routes, is always open, and catches almost everything. His routes are better than DPJ's and Crawford's and his hands are at least better than Crawford. He led the team in receiving yards last year, so it's a bit ridiculous to even have this discussion. He has the most career receptions on the roster by a sizable margin.
February 11th, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
Perry has never had the "measurables," but since halfway through his first year he's been one of the most overall competent receivers on the team.
February 11th, 2018 at 1:57 PM ^
Let's hope we don't have to choose, and that 'rumors' aren't true.
February 11th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
to go to on 3rd downs and feel confident he won't drop it in traffic or especially after the hit. I hope he doesn't go anywhere, he needs to stay, put this past season and what lead into it way behind him and set himself up for a NFL career.

He's probably the best blocker of the wide receiver group.
February 12th, 2018 at 9:35 AM ^
I was surprised Perry didn't move to outside reciever when the slot was replaced by a TE or Flex.

February 11th, 2018 at 1:00 PM ^
Hes the guy who comes in the slot backing up Jones, Black, and Collins but no he would not be a loss IMO. We got the guys to replace him not to mention a shit load of TEs

While I may come off as an ass trying to defend a molestor for posting this, we let the process work itself out, and after reviewing all the documents through FOIA etc, its clear his only issue was in trying to slip away from the police once they got there. Please don't make unsupported statements. It's almost certain that he was only guilty of trying to get away from the police.
While I'm 100% for anyone's right to complain about molestation of any kind, it was good he was removed from all team activities until the investigation established what happened, and had there been any evidence that he did it he should have been off the team permanently, the facts of the matter were fairly simple, below.
1) the girl's story was extremely inconsistent as to where he touched her, as in night and day.
2) she (MSU student prior to the UM game) admitted to knowing who he was (UM football player) and that she was pissed at him for taunting her as a MSU student before she claimed he touched her
3) it allegedly happend right in front of the bouncer as the bouncer was trying to get Perry to the back of the line. (Bouncer did not see anything)
4) it happened right next to the girls friends who also did not see anything
5) it happened right in front of several cameras that also did not display any contact
6) Perry also didn't leave when the bouncer/bar said they were going to call the cops as he didn't feel he did anything wrong. It was only after he felt the police were going to take him in maybe that he got scared. (Not sure I 100% blame him in this environment).
7) EL PD covertly recorded Perry talking on the phone to his family, and while he was clear that he messed up in trying to get away from the police, he was insistent that he did not touch the girl.
No reasonable prosecutor would even have brought that case.
February 11th, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
Didn't the girl herself end up explicitly saying that Perry's actions weren't sexual in any way?
February 11th, 2018 at 10:04 PM ^
February 12th, 2018 at 11:20 AM ^
The victim gave a statement that this still haunts her. Perry got such a severe charge though because he ran from the police. He did somthing dumb and then ran from the cops compounding the dumbness.
February 12th, 2018 at 6:12 AM ^
Good summary.
This was not a case; it was a made-up story. That simple.
Certainly was not the first one I have heard. Probably will not be the last, and it is the grossest of insults to females everywhere who are just standing in line minding their own business.

February 12th, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
In the case of MSU and RCMB, the unfortunate precedent and consistent nature of the actions of their athletes and the atheltic departments willingness to cover everything up would tend to give support to a different line of thinking, no?

This is a dumb opinion. Sure he had a few drops, but Perry hasn't made any more mistakes than anybody else on the offense. He was probably the best receiver we had last year. Losing him would be a big a loss.
