and while Susan Dey was Marcia Brady hot, I had a thing also for Shirley Jones. She would be my Mrs Robinson.
November 22nd, 2017 at 4:25 AM ^
Ditto. Laurie Partridge was OK, but she didn't compare to her mother.
And it's tough to make that sentence not sound weird.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:24 AM ^
That's because it's wrong. Susan Dey >>>>> Shirley Jones.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:52 AM ^
The creepy part of The Partridge Family was that even David Cassidy thought Susan Dey was hot. Made for some awkward scenes.

rest of mgoblog is saying, 'who?'
67 way early, especially for dementia. how much is that like CTE?
November 21st, 2017 at 9:49 PM ^
Quite the star from a very different era. Battling for biggest teen idol on the pages of Tiger Beat magazine with Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond.
Dementia,Alzheimer's, CTE are just horrific. I have had to care for relatives with dementia and wouldn't wish that on anyone. Hopefully research in these areas will uncover treatments soon.

Age and genetics are factors that we can't change, but research is now showing repeated head trauma is another contributing factor, especially loss of consciousness. After seeing people suffer with CTE or Alzheimer's, I say a prayer whenever I see an athlete knocked out.

My father used to relive his childhood with me being his best buddy. It was great to hear about and relive his boyhood exploits but sad all the same because that's all he had left. I was out of the country when he passed, but from what my siblings and his wife said, his last weeks were horrific for everyone, but especially him. That will not happen to me, of this I vow.
November 22nd, 2017 at 10:07 AM ^
My wife and I bought our first house in 2007 after I graduated from college. There was this older man who would walk his retriever every morning. One day we didn't see him anymore. We eventually got word that he took his own life after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
I wouldn't say that I could be an advocate for that decision, but I sure as hell respect and understand it.

Someday your idol Justin Beiber will die too.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:57 AM ^
Nah, Biebs is like a cockroach and they never die of natural causes. He'll have to do something epically stupid which is highly probable.

to those who this matters to: you are old (like me).
to those who it doesn't: you are young, enjoy your life.

Earlier reports said he died of liver failure so I suppose we could assume that he was denied a liver transplant because of his dementia.

is it Fake News ?!.. what is your source ?

I hear this too. He had a drug and alcohol problem a while back, prior to dementia, and his organs began shutting down.
Sources: NPR, CNN, FoxNews, ABC, NBC. Not too hard to find Gordo.

That song was specifically written for middle school girls.
And it worked.
Every girl in my middle school class is officially in mourning today.

He did sing for real though. He wasn't Milli Vanilli.
I think he may have been the only one on the Partridge Family cast that actually sang the songs though.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:07 AM ^
No, his mom (stepmother in real life) did sing on the records.

That would be his 1/2 brother, Shaun Cassidy.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:56 AM ^
I read somewhere he was so popular doing the Partridge Family that he literally couldn't go anywhere and quite the show to try and get his life back.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:02 AM ^
Shirley Jones is David Cassidy's step mom and was a huge broadway and film star prior to the show. The show was supposed to star The Cowsills but the producers didn't want the mom and wanted Jones to replace her. The Cowsill kids said no mom, no kids, so they hired actors. After turning down the role of Carol Brady (Bunch) Jones decided to take the Partridge role to be with her kids more despite being warned that she will always be known as "Mrs. Partridge" She had no idea David was auditioning for the role and developed a strong bond with him on the set. Obviously the younger kids on the show didn't sing or play instruments. David's voice is used in all the songs as is his guitar, Shirley's singing was more background, which is ironic since she has an amazing voice.

Nope, both were ABC shows.
Cassidy is the third cast member to have died, following Reuben Kincaid (Dave Madden) and little sister Tracy (Suzanne Crough). Mom (Shirley Jones) is still living.

You must have had some really weird network programming.
The killer Friday night lineup - all on ABC - was The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Room 222, The Odd Couple, and Love American Style.
It was heaven for a Middle School kid in the early '70s.
Love Amercian Style especially, had some pretty racy themes for back at that time.
