One Frame At A Time: Minnesota
Let's take a look at the most impressive run of the game.
Oh, sure, Karan Higdon made a couple nifty moves in there. I'm not talking about him, though. I need to know if the field judge still has eligibility. Look at these wheels!
Sadly, none of the camera angles on the broadcast captured his full sprint, but as the screencaps show, dude was hauling ass.
Look how little ground he gave up in the last 30 yards. pic.twitter.com/wceOBtAKhI

He slowed up to signal the touchdown, but dude beat Higdon to the five yard line. pic.twitter.com/2HLbtQK7m4

The official's dash is made all the more impressive when you notice he kept his whistle in his mouth the whole time without accidentally blowing the play dead. That's a pro.

THE FULL ALBUM
HONORABLE MENTION
Not from this game, but FOX showed a great clip of Bo getting carried off the field. I'm sure that'll have some reusability.
Flag festival.
Mattison nod of doom.
I still have no idea how this wasn't blocked.
Evans leaping celebration.
Goldy has a medical crisis.
Higdon trucks... Cesar Ruiz.
10. Snap Out Of It, Jim
I wasn't expecting that particular face when he looked up, either.
9. Proper Jug Etiquette/Improper Jug Etiquette
Two hands securing the sides, withstands a running slap from behind, doesn't flinch when his helmet falls off. Solid jug security, JBB.
Never hand Chase Winovich a jug, a vase, a plate of food, or especially a baby. Poor damn Greg Dooley is probably still recovering from this.
8. The New "Good Shit, Jedd"
This was rather open:
And now we know who called the play:
If my lip-reading is correct, that's either "great call, Pep," or "whatta call, Pep," or "way to go, Pep." The constant here: nicely done, Pep.
7. Capsized
Winovich remains incredibly entertaining.
6. Unblockable
Mo Hurst, meanwhile, remains incredible, period. He nearly came up with a pick:
He beat a triple team:
He sacked Demry Croft via hurling the right guard into him:
He celebrated accordingly:
Get in his belly. It's quicker that way.
5. Gruff Cop Fond of Cursing, News at 11
In other Don Brown sideline news, this is quite a play signal.
4. Chris Evans, [series of WOOPs]
Touchdown the first:
The stiff-arm is worth a closer look:
Touchdown the second, wsg FLOATING TRIANGLE OF DOOM:
As you'll see more of later, Spencer Tillman is not good at telestrating.
3. Do The Brando
What in the actual hell.
I know this is probably an attempted dab given Tillman's actual dab, but it looks more like he's ripping a fart while revving an ATV.
2. The Viper Strikes
Yes, Khaleke Hudson's record-setting day produced some GIFs.
Junk-TFL:
Wildcat TFL:
Intentional grounding sack:
Sack-sack:
Strip-sack:
Pretty good season for one game.
FRAMES OF THE GAME: KARAN GONE + REF ON THE RUN
Broadcast angle features some mashing blocks from Cesar Ruiz and Juwann Bushell-Beatty on the right side of the line:
Replay angle:
Enhance:
Get the ball in this man's hands.
As for Higdon, here's a little bonus GIF from our friend Mark the Nomad.

A NOTE ON DOWNLOADING GFYCATS
I've noticed a few comments about the low quality of some gifs when you download from the gfycat page. I found a workaround.
1. If you click any of the honorable mention links, you'll go right to the page you need. If you click on the gfycat embeds, they take you to a slightly different page, so you'll need to change the URL from gfycat.com/gifs/detail/[gif name] to gfycat.com/[gif name].
2. Click on the settings button in the lower right corner to bring up a number of options. This lets you set the quality of the gfycat, toy with the playback speed (highly recommended), play it in reverse, and download GIF versions. You'll want to hit "open large GIF format" because the small ones are of essentially unusable quality.
3. I haven't figured out a rhyme or reason to this, but sometimes that's all you need to do and sometimes that link just takes you back to the original gfycat. If the "open large GIF format" URL is thumbs.gfycat.com/[gif name]-max-14mb.gif, you're good to go.
4. The URL may just be gfycat.com/[gif name], however. If that's the case, simply copy and paste the gif name (the random three-word combination in the URL) and use the correct URL (thumbs.gfycat.com/[gif name]-max-14mb.gif) instead. Now you should be able to load the GIF, right-click, and save.

Tough to beat Ref on the Run. That reminds me of the football scene from Forrest Gump.
BTW, I believe that Bo clip is from his first Rose Bowl victory, at the end of the 1980 season. Finally we won out there.
November 7th, 2017 at 4:16 PM ^
Yep, and I'm pretty sure that's Bubba Paris on Bo's left hoisting him up.
November 7th, 2017 at 5:00 PM ^
Paris is 75, 41 is Andy Cannavino and Mel Owens is 53.

Love the stuff about the official (side judge? Line judge?) here. Honestly, we rightly rag on refs when they get stuff wrong, and they do that a lot, but there's not enough appreciation for them when a difficult moment occurs and they get the call right.
Two come to mind, both on ultra-close sideline catches: The Driesbach-to-Hayes winning TD against Virginia in 1995, and the Woodson one-hander against MSU in 1997. In both moments the ref had to see both the catch, and place a single foot, at a dramatic moment without the benefit of replay.
And both times they absolutely nailed it. Bonus: the dramatic pause in 1995 as the official stared at the sideline to make sure he saw Hayes step in-bounds, and the sweeping first-down Michigan signal by the official immediately after the Woodson catch.
Great job, refs. Seriously.

The Don Brown Playcall is so perfect. I was at the game, so I didn't see this live, but he makes the signal, yells at Mike, does it again, yells again, It was hard to tell when this GIF looped because it was so much longer than expected

Nevermind the sprinting Field Judge. Check out the sweet pirouette by the Umpire in the opening gif!

The Brando Gif is great - especially since his Just for Men matches his ugly-ass suit.

I was particularly fond of Bredeson's reaction to the McKeon TD.
November 7th, 2017 at 6:22 PM ^
As well as Chris Evans' jumping fist pump.

Bredeson and Evans celebrations really put a smile on my face. Glad some others noticed it.

over teacups. On the pod-cast Jack mentioned that DPJ had a crushing block that was @ $ $ over teacups. Any chance we can get that gif; and a special section of the teacup divison?
November 7th, 2017 at 9:41 PM ^
I've always heard it as "ass over tea kettle", but Jack says teacups. We must have grown up in different worlds!

someone also said tea kettle; i think frankly anything will do.

The near pick is my favorite. Because he holds up from rushing to specifically try to intercept the pass. And his reaction after just missing it is glorious.

I luvz me some Don Brown. His F Bomb was classic.
November 7th, 2017 at 5:05 PM ^
Don Brown, the Boston detective who plays by his own rules in pursuit of justice. Finally, he gets his man in the interrogation room only to have the DA say they need to cut him loose resulting in the reaction above.
November 7th, 2017 at 5:23 PM ^
with aggression. That was wicked pisser.
November 7th, 2017 at 9:43 PM ^
And that was up 33-7! How pissed does he get in a close game? Damn...

Khaleke Hudson has probably been spamming F5 on his laptop all day long waiting to see what his MGoBlog UFR score is gonna be.

Hurst beats triple team is insane. He attacks 2 gaps from where he's lined up and gets there so fast the poor RG can't even set his feet to absorb the impact.

made two plays in this game that stand out as among the more memorable plays I've seen Michigan defenders make in the last 10 years.
Pulling down a RB with merely an extended arm is an outrageous display of arm strength. It's a genuine freak play and made me go 'wow' in real time when I saw it. Unbelievable play.
The strip sack was the same. You notice that he was actually blocked and came to a full stop. 99% of the time a pass rusher is out of the play at this point if the QB doesn't extend the play forever. Croft didn't do this, Croft actually rolled out quite promptly and the dude isn't a statue. But Hudson closed like a freakin heat-seeking missile *and* had the awareness to do the tomahawk chop for the football. A++++ play.
Our D isn't perfect, sometimes overpursues and loses contain, sometimes it is undisciplined. But damn ever since Harbaugh has come to town it's legit fun watching those guys. This is one aspect of the team where wishes have come true. I remember watching some of those LSU defenses back in the day and wishing 'man why can't we have that kind of speed and aggression', well we have it!
November 7th, 2017 at 7:32 PM ^
I feel bad for Koenigsegg. They set the production car world speed record, and then this ref just pisses all over their party.

but right after the flag festival I turned to my dad and said, "Like, do refs each carry three flags?" because I swear there were more flags flying than there were stripes on the field.

Hurst tackling TWO guys at once gets the nod, but Bo getting carried off will ALWAYS score big.

I wish we had a better view of Wonovich Rowing the boat after participating in a sack.
