MGoFastFood Vote: Results
Year 1 - MGoCereal: Results
Summary: Cinnamon Toast Crunch is king, Brian Cook as a cereal mascot, and a vicious debate in the comments about whether you pour the milk or cereal first.
Year 2 - MGoHalloweenCandy: Results
Summary: People like Reese's, candy corn sucks, and something about candied genitalia.
Year 3 - MGoFastFood
The results have been tallied, and it's time to reveal what the MGoBoard craves when they hit the drive-thru.
Voter turnout was way up, more than doubling the votes cast in the Halloween Candy poll. However, the 487 ballots did not reach the rarefied air inhabited by the Breakfast Cereal poll's 600+ votes. In a personal victory and for the first time ever, I did not have to discard any ballots due to racist answers. Great job guys!
I hand counted the ballots, so there are probably some piddling errors, don't @ me.
Results:
Southern Evangelicals make their voices heard on yet another national vote. This one was never close, with Taco Bell and Wendy's making late runs to avoid being doubled up.
Wow, do you guys hate Burger King, to the point of 1 in 4 responses espousing disdain of BK. BK hate was the largest vote getter regardless of poll question.
Most Overrated was competitive throughout, with the top 5 chains more or less even throughout, with In-N-Out the early leader and McDonald's pulling away late.
This question received an enormous amount of unique answers obviously, so just listing the top 10. Taco Bell and McDonald's menu items led the poll collectively, but their enormous menus cannibalized their vote totals, allowing items from the comparably limited menus of In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A to dominate.
Responses:
Hi Dave.
I hadn't heard Chick-fil-A had opened locations in Canada.
Applebee's has fallen to the point that people don't even remember they are a casual dining restaurant. Damn you Millennials!
Agreed, what's her problem anyway?
You're doing it wrong. It's "All is horrible. Eat Arby's."
Thank you for taking the time to participate in my poll, Coach Meyer.
I refuse to believe the chain that gave us a commercial with Scottie Pippin dunking a sandwich could be the worst at anything.
Full commercial here. It's worth it.
I would make fun of this person's immaturity, but this restaurant is referred to as "ButtcracDonald's" in the Smoothitron household, or sometimes as "The ol' Buttcrack".
How did you know my college nickname?
I have nothing funny to say here. I just wanted to point out that 5 separate people, when asked to record their favorite Fast Food menu item and the chain from which it comes, just wrote the word "burger".

I don't really agree with chick-fil-a politically /ducks
but their food is amazing.

They've expanded as far west as Las Vegas and east to MA and VA. There's one in Columbus and tons of them across Texas.

every single time someone makes a joke about applebee's I die laughing. Even if the joke isn't funny.

I don't know what Chick-fil-A does, but whatever oil they use in their fryers is terrible. I can't even eat their waffle fries they taste so bad. Don't like anything on their menu, and at one of their locations, even the pop from their pop machine was awful. I tried to give them a chance, trying to eat there on 5 different occassions, but it was all just terrible. I'd rather have White Castle than Chick-fil-A; and Wendy's is the superior "fast-food chicken" option, and it's not even close.

This guy pours his milk first.

That's a low blow, to stoop to that low of a personal attack.
I'm obviously a cereal first guy, but I haven't had a bowl of cereal in about 2 years. And I just don't like the taste of anything at Chick-fil-A. Maybe I've only been to bad locations (Cedar Point, Missouri, and Indiana), but I can't imagine between the 4 different places I've tried, that any other location would taste different.

(technically Missouri is SEC country...) But yeah, I suppose I'll have to check out one in Georgia, Florida, or Texas for an updated taste test.

When it comes to personal taste, is there a "right or wrong"? I don't like the way it tastes, and my opinion is that it's an overrated fast food place.
Another opinion I have is that Detroit style pizza is the best pizza in the country. I get a lot of ???!!! when I state that opinion outside of Michigan.
Chick-fil-A is just not my kind of fast food joint. I also dislike BK, arby's, and McD's, so I avoid eating at those places as well.
November 7th, 2017 at 9:25 PM ^
Your opinion is wrong.
November 8th, 2017 at 7:32 AM ^
I made my comment below before reading this one about "Detroit-style pizza".
I agree with UM Fan Sydney here, your opinion is objectively wrong.

What is Detroit style pizza? Why is it the best? Where do you get yours?

Google Image Search is your friend
Square deep dish with a fluffy crust is the best way to describe it. Jet's Square, Little Caesars deep deep dish, Buddy's Pizza.

I think you are the first person I have ever heard say a bad word about Chick-fil-a food. I've heard "It's good but I was expecting more", I've heard "It's fine", and I've obviously heard "yaaassssss"...but I honestly have never heard someone say that anything from Chick-fil-a tasted "bad". Chick-fil-a is so good that even the type of person that pays attention to what the executives' politics are is like "I hate you Chick-fil-a...but dammit do I respect you".
I do like White Castle though. Always sketchy, but always pretty good.

I used to love the spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendy's (it was a larger part of my undergrad diet than was probably healthy, but good nutrition and rigorous engineering curriculum typically do not go hand in hand). However, when I finally moved to a part of the country with a Chick-fil-A (before their northwards expansion/invasion), I tried their spicy sandwich and was throroughly impressed. Adding into that that 1) I've never seen a dirty CFA or one with bad service (unlike far too many Wendy's) and 2) the prices are about the same, I rarely go to Wendy's anymore (at least for chicken sandwiches). Their burgers are still good, but later I tried a Five Guys and.... same story (except for the price).

It seems like they can't build them fast enough in Toledo. Seven years ago there were zero in the entire greater-Toledo area. Now there are five with plans to build a few more in the works.

I originally thought In-n-Out was pretty good. Had it in California and Arizona. Then it came to Texas and was really excited. I tried it four times and it was so salty I couldn't finish the burger or the fries.
In full disclosure, during the time between eating it out west vs in Texas, I stopped eating at fast food places (thank you sister for recommending that I actually eat one of those burgers slowly to really taste it and get the texture!!! Yuuuuuhhhhhhhh, I still get the shivers thinking about that.)
November 8th, 2017 at 1:00 PM ^
I just think the people that love In-n-Out have a relationship with the brand. I had them for the first time this past summer out in Pheonix, and they were fine, but certainly nothing to rave about. It was a fast food burger.
The guy I went with, however, grew up with them and doesn't live where they are readily available. So he had a emotional connection with growing up with this regional delicacy that he hadn't had in quite some time, so the nostaglia was strong and it was a great experience for him. For me...not so much. I wouldn't not go back, but I wouldn't go out of my way for one either.

Plus their fries suck. Only okay if you get them well done, and that leads to waiting 10minutes for your “fast food”.

True humblebrag: First time I ever had an In-N-Out burger was January 1, 1979- it was the official Marching Band lunch at the end of the Rose Bowl Parade. So between being a teenager and having finished marching 6 miles, you know it tasted fantastic...

Del Taco -- best fast crappy Mexican. Shake Shack and Five Guys -- best burgers. Jack in the Box has great onion rings. Schlotzky's and Jersey Mike's -- best cold sandwiches.
November 7th, 2017 at 11:55 PM ^
Jack in the Box impressed me by receiving 18 votes for the worst chain(#10 overall) while not receiving a single vote for best.
November 8th, 2017 at 1:05 PM ^
I first had a Jack in the Box taco as a 6th grader...no other fast food taco is worth eating if those things are within a 10 mile radius...
There is literally nothing else on the menu that I do like at Jack in the Box, but those tacos man...add the taco sauce...
Here's my anecdote about the tacos. There is a Jack in the Box about 40 minutes south of Dayton, OH where I live. I make my way down that direction once every two months or so...and when I do, I go in and order 6 tacos for $3. Without fail, as I am waiting for my order, someone will come in and order more tacos than me, usually in the double digits. I know it's not just me...

I would love to open a Del Taco in AA.
