OT: Is the Jordan brand losing its appeal?
I saw this on CNN Money about Nike's Jordan brand slipping a bit in terms of popularity. I thought this was interesting given the hype surrounding Michigan and the Jumpman line.

The brand has certainly fallen off in the last several years with "Jordans" losing much of their luxury brand appeal. As they increased supply and reissued old versions- their mystique has definitely decreased:

You're incredibly out of touch if you think Adidas' market surge is due to Sambas and All-Stars (although the latter is an insta-thot essential). Look up the price of an Ultraboost or Yeezy Boost, which will be hard to find for anything under resell. Adidas has limited their supply of incredibly hyped shoes but still sells them at a $200+ price tag at retail.

"Incredibly out of touch" seems a bit harsh. We are talking about shoes.

It was a bit harsh.
Especially calling someone "out of touch" when he misattributed "All-Stars" to adidas. I assume he meant Superstars. All-Stars are Converse.
Don't mean to be nitpicky, but before calling others "out of touch," perhaps get "in touch" yourself.

let me get caught up here. Kanye West has a brand of Adidas shoes, and these shoes are selling because they are Kanye West shoes? Is this accurate so far?
September 20th, 2017 at 10:35 AM ^
As accurate as you can be.

Ultraboosts dont fly as much as they used to. Yeah, maybe some of the collabs, or limited edition stuff, but you can still get most colorways on the adidas website.
Yeezys tho? Yeah, those are crazy in demand.
September 19th, 2017 at 8:16 PM ^
Not out of touch. I've got up at six am and tried to order yeezy's from the footlocker app. I actually got those fuckers too. They were 160 but you can't just find those.

forgiveable offense since the thread fell off the first page, but already posted earlier today and I, at least, have an issue where pressing the little "next page" arrows at the bottom of the New thread list refreshes the list with diary topics.

Bad threads kick good threads to the black hole far too quickly sometimes (especially during the season), but indeed the real crime is poor site design. Ironically though this creates positive feedback in the form of thread cops, which I support.

I figured out a workaround but forget it almost immediately after I remember it.

If you open a new tab (at least with the middle click button), the next page should appear. I believe you have to do that for each page back you want to look though.

This is why it was negged! I am sorry. I looked and didn't see it.

I think Boost will run it's course soon enough. Adidas is currently being held up by Kanye, streetwear hype, and limited supply; but in the end it still looks like disposable cooler styrofoam.
September 19th, 2017 at 5:54 PM ^
hasn't affected the Adidas sales at all prior to this year. Adidas simply has been doing better but Kanye has little bearing on the shoe sales resut.
September 19th, 2017 at 5:57 PM ^
While I was critical of your earlier post, I think you're spot on here. Boost is nice, but I agree it will eventually run its course and be replaced by the next "big thing." As you said, adidas' cash cows now are all their version of retro footwear, "Originals" as they call it.
