Mgo doctors chime in?
Pectoral injury for Ryan Glasgow. Looks like he's done for the year.

I think we need him more on D than on O right now.
Was Kerridge playing today? I don't recall seeing him out there today.

Just win, baby.
The thing is--IU's tempo offense is weird, and they've put up points all year. The next two weeks look totally different. Not saying it's a win, but tonight was a weird mix of factors that may not be relevant going forward.

played there all year. He's better against the pass than the run, which showed today. We might be seeing Henry there and more of Taco.
November 15th, 2015 at 1:02 AM ^
Taco will get more reps for sure. But I also thought he was more of an edge-pass-rusher.
Maybe we'll see more of Pallante as well.

Penn State still doesn't scare me too much, and OSU isn't exactly terrifying like last year, but without Glasgow... IDK.

No weirdness or tempo? Which game were you watching?
Also considering their line jumped early on just about every run...
November 14th, 2015 at 9:16 PM ^
Good, I wasnt the only one who was seeing that from the IU OL.

I thought I was halucinating that.
November 14th, 2015 at 9:55 PM ^
But in any case, tempo is a canard. The way to beat tempo is to stop them in their first set of downs, something Michigan was simply incapable of doing. That isn't tempo, that's beating the crap out of Michigan's defense with execution.

The season wears on you, truly.
As easy as it is to get hyped up and watch from the stands of living room, it's not an easy game out there.
No matter what anyone says, players do, inevitably, slump and "take snaps/quarters/games" off. It's just impossible not to.
Put simply, it's impossible not to look ahead. My guess is, they looked a little too far ahead of this game, and saw it a little too much as a sure-thing. It's only human, Alabama did it with LSU when they played Tennessee. It happens.
The hope is that you recognize it, snap out of it, and rise to the occasion.
It's not easy to watch your favorite team do it. And i understand the worry/frustration, but the important thing is we survived.
Durkin and Co. will be able to scheme up for next week, and we'll adjust around our injuries.
Every team has it's off week. And sure, this one cut pretty close. But Idiana could just as easily be a 7 or 8 win team. They were no joke. Best 6-loss team in the country.
But we'll be alright. And we'll be back!

Glasgow or not, I think Indiana's OL was the most serious OL we've faced all year, size, athleticism, and coached. Both run blocking and pass protection. Obviously Glasgow would have helped out tremendously, but thats a major league OL right there.
November 14th, 2015 at 8:32 PM ^
Glasgow is a great player and will be missed but today was only partly due to him being out. Durkin had a bad game plan, giving far too much respect to Sudfeld by havint the safeties playing 20-25 yards back the entire game. That really allowed IU to gash Michigan on the ground. Adjustments should have been made, bringing the deep guys into the box and stopping the run. The DL is not nearly as bad as they looked today as they were playing 11 on 9 most downs.

And after the early success the OL thrived on its success and got more and more confident...while the DL may have had the opposite reacition.
Got the W and have a week to sort out the situtation on the D Line.

IU's left tackle kept sealing the edge on run plays.
It sucks that Glasgow's out. We'll adjust.
November 14th, 2015 at 9:15 PM ^
He's got a week to learn from this. He's got the raw talent. Fingers are crossed.

There was a lot of holding going on as well.

not a ton durkin can do if the DL gets pushed around (not terribly but it hasnt been good lately) and the LBs and safeties are awful in pursuit or miss tackles.
while theyve been average for past few years, the LBs are far from impact players and they continue to struggle. whether its struggling to shed blocks and fill gaps, struggling to pick through traffic and meet backs on the perimeter, struggling in pass coverage, struggling to make tackles in open field, struggling to pressure QB on the blitz - its been a struggle for all of them, regardless of stats or whatever pundits might say. and the DBs have not helped matters past few games, theyve also missed open field tackles, taken poor angles, etc. if the DL does not dominate by controlling the LOS, eating blocks and making big tackles themselves, this D struggles to stop decent run games.
not sure how durkin can adjust to poor play or execution. coaches can only do so much. i dont agree with all durkins calls or personnel decisions but hes at the mercy of his players, not the other way around. jimmys and joes
