Three-star 2017 Covington (GA) Newton running back Kurt Taylor is the first commitment of what should be a busy recruiting weekend for Michigan. Taylor named the Wolverines as his leader when they offered him in August, had a great trip for the BYU game, and didn't need to wait until the Michigan State game to announce his commitment on his latest campus visit.
Taylor is the third Michigan commit in the 2017 class, joining tight end Carter Dunaway and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste.
We're overstuffed with content today, so for now I'll post Taylor's rankings and highlights. A full Hello post will go up on Sunday.
GURU RATINGS
Scout | Rivals | ESPN | 247 | 247 Comp |
3* RB | 3*, #19 RB | NR RB |
3*, 88, #24 RB, #308 Ovr |
3*, #35 RB, #484 Ovr |
All the sites save ESPN have Taylor ranked as a three-star, though he's within sniffing distance of four-star territory on 247 and Rivals.

good luck in your career. Love the picture of Bo and Harbaugh and all things Harbaugh anyway!!!
October 16th, 2015 at 2:06 PM ^
Not too shabby. Most importantly, HARBAUGH wants him so welcome!!!

Where did you see that he had 7 SEC offers? Not showing that on 247.

Just click the link on 247 which says View Complete List. Here it is:

Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Auburn, South Carolina, & Florida

He only has offers from Vanderbilt and Kentucky. All of those other teams are listed as "interests".
October 16th, 2015 at 3:09 PM ^
My bad. :(
October 16th, 2015 at 3:00 PM ^
It shows offers from Kentucky and Vandy.
October 16th, 2015 at 4:32 PM ^
id be amazed if all those teams offered this kid, particularly uga - have you noticed the backs theyve trotted out recently?

My super uneducated opinion -
PROs -
Seems to find gaps, looks to have excellent vision
Not shy about contact
Good balance, shifty
His arms are like extra super jacked, brah
CONS -
Runs so straight up he almost bends backwards
Doesn't seem to have elite top end speed or quickness

No it's not. Elite top end speed is a luxury, squarely behind traits like vision and ability to get YAC. This is doubly true in a Jim Harbaugh offense.

I see him as a baseline of De'veon Smith -
+ vision
- size
The one thing you don't see on highlight tapes is his ability to hold onto the ball. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is contingent on that. Not saying he doesn't. He seems to hold it correctly. But it'll take a long time for me to trust Isaac again.

I agree on top end speed, but IMO quickness is very important and almost mandatory for a great back. Mike Hart didn't have great speed, but was very quick in his cuts and avoiding trash.

Looks like he might need to be taught how to run. He is all over the place. My super uneducated all state track opinion...

A considered decision, with mom and dad, bodes well for his future.

Welcome Aboard young man and congratulations on making a fantastic life decision!

Can we discuss the fact that Harbaugh apparently wears nothing but his game coaching gear? Maybe the first coach I've ever seen who gets off the bus for the locker room already dressed in his sideline gear. Love it.
October 16th, 2015 at 2:32 PM ^
Didn't he originally say he started wearing khakis so he wouldn't have to spend 5 minutes worrying about an outfit every morning?
This could just be an extension of that

This kid literally looks like Frank Gore. If JH sees that kind of potential in him then we've got a good one.

He runs like he has a pulled hammy. Either way, I'm stoked because he also doesn't look like he needs to wear pads.
October 16th, 2015 at 2:49 PM ^
They're a pain to tackle.
October 16th, 2015 at 2:50 PM ^
The first. May be more coming with this big weekend coming up.
October 16th, 2015 at 2:52 PM ^
He's short. Mike Hart is short. Therefore, he must run like Mike Hart. Logic wins.
October 16th, 2015 at 2:54 PM ^
Welcome to the squad, Kurt! See you in a few years.

Way to GoBlue!

First: YAY recruits! If our coaches like him, I like him.
Second: (looking at Taylor's film) anyone else find it odd that there is a school in Georgia (Westlake) that calls itself the Lions and apparently takes its logo directly from Detroit, colors and all?
I mean, I know lots of high schools do this with the Packer's "G" and the Chicago "C"... and the Dallas Star, even the Atlanta Falcon (which is simple/cool)... but a school in Georgia emulating the Detroit Lions?
I thought it was interesting, especially since they even transitioned to the new more stylized Lions logo that Millen introduced in '04 after sporting the old school lion previously.

If you told me that was Frank Gores son, I'd believe you. If you told me it was his nearly-idenitical twin, heretofore frozen in carbonite and recently released from his chronostatic state, I'd believe you.

Harbaugh tucks in his sweatshirt! Not sure I had noticed that before.
October 16th, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
His arms. Oh my god. His arms.
October 16th, 2015 at 3:39 PM ^
Jim Harbaugh was 7 ft tall.

The thing that jumps out at me is his aggressiveness and decisiveness into gaps and holes as they open up. He doesn't have happy feet; he's not "bouncy". He's letting plays develop and maximizing yardage. Playing within himself and counting on his team for success. Definitive Harbaugh recruit.
