You have to figure that a guy who won the Rimington and who's an all-around bad ass will be able to kick ass in the NFL.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
Yeah, I might have to go with our All American as well.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
One of the last Rimmington winners, AQ Shipley, got dragted in the 7th round when he came out. Was with the Steelers, got released, now I think is on the Eagles practice squad.
Personally I think Mike Martin is the best pro prospect of the class.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
Molk and Martin are projected 3rd round picks. I can't help but feel that someone will be getting a huge bargain on both in the 3rd round.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
"David ...draft analysts have you projected in the 3rd or later round.. how do you think that measures up to your general 'Ill end you and do it efficiently' philosophy?"
December 13th, 2011 at 8:59 AM ^
I'd like to see where Molk is 3rd rounder...everything I've seen has him at 6 or 7. The earliest I've seen is the 5th round.
Mike Martin is the best pro prospect on the team. Kevin Koger has to catch the ball consistently and didn't have the production due to the offense we ran for 3 years.
December 13th, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
He is NOT projected in the 7th round...Perhaps 3rd

I hope it comes true!
December 12th, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
Martin. Geeat strength and he became more productive this year.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
I say Mike Martin. However, Mark Huyge will be building life-size versions of these for a living
December 12th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
I think Martin or Molk could go in the second round. Probably not both.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
Since the current class actually graduates in 2012, I'm going to go with Jonas Mouton. He got drafted in the second round, after all.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
happy 1000th mgopoint to you!
December 12th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
Ha, thanks for noticing, and I'm happy that it's a smiling Denard congratulating me. If it isn't official already, it should be your job to scour the site for MGoPoint milestones.
I only wish it was a less smartass comment that put me over the edge. Oh well.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
You created the Brian Cook Photobomb thread. You're pretty much untouchable right now.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:28 AM ^
Well I'm hoping for the day when I hit 1000....again. I hit it once back in the day of expiring points and the negbangs...took a year off. Now I'm back on the up and up. Congrats!
December 13th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Well, I upvoted you because I love the Bugle. Also, Fuck you Chris!
December 12th, 2011 at 11:17 PM ^
Martin
December 12th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
Martin is the highest. He carries roughly a third round grade but has a chance to move into the late 2nd round. Molk grades out somewhere around the 4th or 5th round because he is undersized as a center and appears to have maxed out physically.
Just fwiw Craig Roh is currently our highest pick. I have seen him as a second rounder on some sites.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
And say Mike Martin.

As for Koger, I think he's got a good shot and has all the skills to be a good NFL TE, but 10-12 years would be a LONG time for him to last in the body crushing NFL.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Martin, Molk, and Koger, in that order.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
Just to be different, I'm gonna say RVB. He certainly won't be our highest drafted player, but I think he could really be a difference maker as a solid rotation guy. I think he's gonna be the guy who late in games make big plays because he's fresh going against a tired OL. Plus we've seen this year how incredibly intelligent he is on the line. I think he'll surprise some of the naysayers. Or maybe I just wanted to say someone other than Molk and Martin.
December 13th, 2011 at 7:02 AM ^
as the season progressed. I'm going with RVB too.
Love the avatar, although I can't recall exactly where that sign is located. Imagine getting a BJ when suddenly you pass the "Climax - 1 Mile" sign. "Um, honey you better go a little faster..."
December 13th, 2011 at 9:15 AM ^
I believe it is off of I-94 on the way to Kalamazoo. I lived in that general area until I was in my mid 20s.
December 13th, 2011 at 9:25 AM ^
Definitely Kalamazoo County's most notable road sign. We locals are desensitized to it. It takes an outsider to remind us how goofy the name of that town is.
December 13th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
of COLON!
December 12th, 2011 at 11:43 PM ^
I'll say Molk. I'm praying that he will still be there for the Lions in the 2nd or 3rd round.
December 13th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
Be nice to get Molk in there and get Riola out. He's gettin old.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:44 PM ^
Martin hands down. If he slips out of Round 3, it's thievery. I think he's going to test great at the combine. Could play either 3-tech in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4 at the next level.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
What about Junior? I know he isn't nearly the best prospect, but what are his chances at an NFL career
December 13th, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
Pretty good...Jr. has a lot of intangibles that the NFL looks for...competitive, good hands, good athlete, nice size etc.
December 13th, 2011 at 2:28 AM ^
Pretty sure size is a tangible attribute, while the reliability of a player's hands is getting there (see: Brian's advanced catch metrics).
December 13th, 2011 at 12:11 AM ^
Martavious Odoms.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:27 AM ^
Only way he gets on an NFL field is if he has a press pass
December 13th, 2011 at 1:21 AM ^
Sidney Rice? Santana Moss? Those are just two that come to mind, that are doing just fine as small WR's. Thanks for the laugh.
December 13th, 2011 at 6:04 AM ^
Don't forget good ol' 5'9" Steve Smith. Guy has been tearing it up for years now. I could definitely see Odoms evolving into this type of receiver.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:49 PM ^
I love Tay, but No, he will not be in the NFL, and if for some reason he latches on with a team and gets a shot, he will not be a Steve Smith-like NFL player.
December 13th, 2011 at 6:47 AM ^
Sidney Rice is 6'4". And both of those guys were crazy productive in college. Comparing Martavious to them purely based on size doesn't really tell the whole story.
December 13th, 2011 at 7:05 AM ^
PR or KR. I like him as a receiver too, but I think PR/KR are his best chances.
December 13th, 2011 at 9:51 AM ^
Sidney Rice is 6'4", 202 lbs. You must be thinking of someone else.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
Ray Rice?
December 13th, 2011 at 9:18 AM ^
He reminds me of a Davone Bess type. Has some speed but relatively small. Bess was in that Colt Brennan lead Hawaii offense. I had the pleasure of going to a couple games the year they went to the Sugar Bowl. They were fun to watch.
December 13th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
I love Odoms, but he's been very unproductive for the past couple seasons. He had more catches in 2008 than he's had in 2009, 2010, and 2011 combined. Most other tiny receivers who have made it big in the NFL were extremely productive in college.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:16 AM ^
Dave Molk. A good center is a premium position of importance in the NFL and Molk with is combination of aggressiveness, smarts, use of leverage and athleticism as well as his remarkable consistency leads me to believe that a 10 year NFL career is in front of him. The others such as Martin and Kogs could do well, but on a lessor level imo.
December 13th, 2011 at 10:34 AM ^
Molk's problem is that he's really only going to be draftable by zone-based teams. At 6'2" - 286 (that at least his listed height/weight) he's just not big enough to be a drive blocking center. The Senior Bowl type things are going to be really important for Molk, as he's got to show the ability to anchor against pass rushing DTs.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
Really the only ones that are currently being projected to be drafted are Molk and Martin. The rest of the guys are great leaders and Michigan Men, but the reality is that they probably won't get drafted and won't end up doing much. It kind of sucks because I really think that many of these guys, especially the defensive guys, could probably have done something if they had Mattison as their coach for all 4 years. I just think that people like RVB, Ezeh (I know that is last year), Mouton, and others could have been a lot better and actually gone on to productive NFL careers. But alass, we are just getting back into the NFL factory that we once were.
December 13th, 2011 at 6:09 AM ^
*Alass* (A lass?), you have been drinking too much Rosenberg Kool-Aid. I believe in player development, but only to a point. Ezeh's on-field issues went beyond coaching. Notice, also, that even the current staff couldn't coach 4-star J.B. Fitzgerald into a starter.
