Michigan came out swinging tonight at Crisler against MSU. And spiking.

The Wolverines took 3 of 4 sets. Michigan rolled in set one winning 25-19.

Set two was more of the same with Michigan winning 25-21. MSU fought off 4 set points to make it look closer than it actually was but this one was not in doubt as Michigan had a 24-17 lead.

Set 3 was back and forth. MSU prevented a sweep by getting a 25-22 win and getting their first set win in 3 matches.

Nothing of the sort in set 4 as Michigan was simply superior. Paige Jones took over, getting 11 kills as she powered Michigan to a 25-16 win. Jones had her 3rd straight double double with 26 kills and 14 digs.

Michigan beats Michigan State 3-1.

The 4th straight win over MSU ties the longest winning streak by Michigan in the series history with 2008-2010 and 1981. Not only has Michigan won 4 in a row but also 10 of the last 15.

Michigan is now 16-7 (9-4 B1G) and will host #21 Illinois on Saturday at Cliff Keen Arena at 7pm. Michigan got the road upset of #19 Illinois last Friday getting their first win at Huff Hall since 2007.

All the Crisler games and BTN games around the league make me think the popularity of the sport is growing. We really are blessed with the deepest league in the country.

It is a sport that is more exciting to watch women play than the men’s version.

And man, Sparty was bad. Looked like a HS team out there.

I saw Michigan beat Illinois last weekend, the Wolverines' first victory in Champaign since 2007. Women's volleyball is incredibly exciting and the B1G is the finest league top-to-bottom. It's a lot of fun to watch.

Agree. Attended with wife and 2 daughters Nebraska@Illinois and Nebraska@Northwestern earlier in the season. Really fun and exciting. You don't get an appreciation for how tall those girls are until you're standing next to them.

Also have been watching a lot of volleyball on BTN and FS1, including Michigan upsetting Illinois. If they can take care of business against Illinois again Saturday in AA, I can't see how they would NOT be ranked next week. After Illinois, they should be favored in every match except for at #6 Minnesota on 11/16. The really tough slate (5 game stretch including Nebraska, Minnesota, Penn State, and Illinois) in which Michigan went 2-3 is past.
