Todd Plate's n…

I re-watched WolvHistorian's condensed version at some point last year.  Man, that final drive, Todd Collins was as cool as both sides of the Dos Equis Man's pillow.  Clutch throw after clutch throw, i'm glad they included his final one in the above clip.

I hate ND so much.

Ahh, we did that when I was a freshmen in 1976 and we beat OSU 22-0 down in Columbus without completing a single pass!  The streets were alive with celebration after having not beaten the hated Buckeyes in 4 years (3 losses and 1 tie) and started a streak of 3 straight Rose Bowls with Rick Leach at QB....

I was at the game in South Bend when Coach Moeller was head coach.  We had led most of the game and were faced with a 4th and short deep in ND territory.  We were lining up for a FG and I was going nuts.  I did not want to have to kick to ND and risk a big run back.  Sure as shit, we made the FG and kicked off and ND ran it back past midfield (I I recall correctly).  Ron Pawlus led the Irish right down the shortened field and the Irish took the lead.   Man I was bummed out.  Luckily, Todd Collins hit Van Dyne on a pass and Yale wisely and valiantly got out of bounds.  We ultimately scored and won the game.  Whew.

The 85 game was memorable because there was a short hiatus in the series prior to that.

The 97 game was epic because we had to come back from a halftime deficit and tried to give the game away in the 4th quarter.  Defense wins championships, baby.

And despite how the season finished, the 2009 game was memorable.

Finally, last year might be the creme de la creme.

Denard.  On the road.  True, 2010 didn't turn out as nicely as 1997, but there aren't too many instances of more dominant individual performances outside of Tom Harmon or Biachabatuka ever.

if we are discussing "moments". Michigan had lost to ND 4 years in a row going into 1991. Those were the most painful losses of my pre-pubescent Michigan fandom. I hated ND more than Ohio (probably because we actually beat Ohio regularly).  Going to school in ohio, I regularly encountered typical OSU fan who tried to deride me on a daily basis for my allegiance. The Mondays following Michigan losses were always the worst, no matter who the loss was to (as I said, I never really found out what it would have been like to lose to Ohio back then, as it was a rarity).

To my 14 year old mind, that 4th and 1 might as well have had the fate of the planet riding on it.

have been really important in this rivalry game between Michigan and Notre Dame.  Joe Unis, Harry Oliver, Chuck Male....Reggie Ho,  God the list goes on. Scary, nightmarish stuff on both sides.

Despite shanking two FGs last weekend, I do think ND has the upperhand with FG kicking with PK David Ruffer.  ND punting is a different story. They suck.

Does anyone remember what year this was?  Holtz sent word that ND will go on the field first.  It was either Bo or Mo that said F-that and lead Michigan out of the locker room as ND was leaving their locker room.  The TV cameras got caught in the middle of a fierce meeting in the tunnel.  One of my very 1st memories of the rivalry

#1 is 2009.  Stonums return was as electifying as Woodson return against OSU.

#2 is 2006.  That game was simply special for so many reasons.

#3 is Desmond's heroics

#4 is Hamilton for the win

#5 is Denard Denard Denard!
