RV Parking for newcomer

Submitted by TOUCHmyBANNER on
First time RVer traveling to Ann Arbor for the Michigan vs Penn State game. I would think the main lot is for season ticket fans. Where is the next best place for tailgaters in RVs to park? Pioneer? Does weather have a say in this location? We plan on coming in on Friday and staying 2 nights if possible. Pricing?

I'd like to finally bring a group to a game in my RV too. Maybe Maryland. Does everyone just fire up their generators? Is Friday night kind of a fun community camp-out experience or more of a necessary evil pain in the ass?

Off topic, but does anyone know if the zippered seat cushions (that can be unzipped to become two cushions) are allowed? It says that seat cushions with pockets aren't allowed, but that wouldn't seem to apply here since you can unzip to easily show there's nothing inside. Any insight is appreciated, thanks.

We've done Pioneer, and it's pretty chillaxing Friday nights. Most people are quietly cooking out, listening to tunes, tossing bags, or playing beer pong. I'd love to try Fingerle, as that is far more convenient to any number of things (including bars). The big mistake my group made was not getting the damn propane filled/connected (nominal extra charge) on our rental RV. So we couldn't do quick showers on gameday. Huge downer. I love camping, but not at the Big House. The UTL II daytime tailgate was pretty humid, so by gametime we were all ready to be clean. Sunday's midday shower never felt so good.

Overall, a super chill scene & highly recommended. Weekend-long spots at Pioneer are pretty pricey. $400-$500 if memory serves. Go Blue!
