RR likes us to beat ND
in the Mandel podcast: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/podcasts/stewart_mandel/listenlive.pla…
he knows these teams pretty well.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:34 PM ^
Huh. Am I the only one who assumed, for whatever reason, that Stewart Mandel was black? That voice was an eye-opener.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
With a name like Stewart Mandel, I figured he'd be a slightly stocky, balding Jewish guy.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
Just figured it out--I thought Stuart Scott and Stewart Mandel were the same person. (Obviously I don't get SI, so I just knew Mandel was a sports guy whose name I knew whose first name was Stewart(/Stuart).)
September 7th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
Woody Allen and Charles Barkley. Just so you know.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
Thanks.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Charles Barkley and Charles Bronson are the same guy, though.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
Stephen A. Smith and Steve Guttenberg: Different dudes.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
But look, given that Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle really were the same guy--and also the same guy as Jaleel White for that matter--I don't see how you guys can fault me. Black people are just confusing.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
Didn't Stephen A. Smith play Waldo Geraldo Faldo in his younger days as well?
This shit is confusing.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
With a title like "RR likes us to beat ND," I was worried that this thread could veer off into an irrelevant, unpredictable, wild and weird conversation. I'm really glad to see the way this has in reality turned out.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
To suggest that Eddie Winslow would be friends with Stephen A. Smith is an insult to Darius McCrary. (Also to the ability of the show's writers to create a black sitcom with whose characters white America could be completely comfortable.)
September 7th, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
There was a rumor that Mandel might be a player to be named later when black people sent white people Condoleezza Rice in the Racial Draft. It never materialized though.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
if you've ever read Braves and Birds, you'd KNOW that Stewie is a Jewish guy, at the very least.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
That's actually false, as I have read a couple of Braves and Birds entries and don't even know what Stewie you're talking about.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
You are.
His face is on every online article he writes.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
That tells you how many Stewart Mandel articles I've read...
[Sorry for highjacking the thread with the sheer incomprehensibility of my ignorance, ish.]
September 7th, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
What was RR gonna say? That he picks the Irish? What a pointless exercise.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
Isn't he the bald guy who won't touch anyone? Used to put a latex glove on his head, wasn't funny so now he is a broadcaster sort of like Dennis Miller.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
No, you are thinking of Howie Sterns
September 7th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
I think you're thinking of David Stern.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
He is a lineman and not yet a broadcaster.
September 7th, 2011 at 3:10 PM ^
That would actually be Howie Mandel, from Deal or No Deal...
September 7th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
be cool, could you?

in a CBS homer interview that he thinks M should have 9 or 10 wins...(paraphrasing, "at least that's what we would expect if we were there.")
Be careful to not fall for what RR was trying to do: Anything short of a nine- or ten-win season equates to a failure of the new system.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
Predict football game outcomes for CBS for money.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
RR is attempting to poison our minds, raise our expecations, and take our women.
September 7th, 2011 at 2:52 PM ^
RR stole our MANBALL. What more can he take from us??
September 7th, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
Take my mind but leave the women
September 7th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
Should I instead fall for what Hoke is trying to do? You know, that part he said about anything less than a conference championship would be a disappointment...
Anything short of 9 wins IS a failure. And I quote Hoke: "This is Michigan."
September 7th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
proof:
1) we beat them last year
2) beat them on the road - not at home
3) we are better this year
4) we have the amazing pointing coach and not this guy:

I listened to the first 15 seconds then bailed when the Pam Ward impersonator came on. Her, coupled with Mandel's morning zoo quality audio just made me get the hell out.
September 7th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
File this one next to "Lou Holtz picks ND to win Saturday." Of course he did.
September 7th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
The Most Interesting Man In The World is far too interesting to be bothered with such predictions. Besides, he picked Oregon State in the Michigan-ND game.
September 8th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
...and was right.
