Chaney, one of the most powerful and respected coaches in college basketball history, died Friday.

John Chaney was a great coach, put Temple on the map. Also played our Fab 5 Team tough in 93:

John Chaney was a goon and a mean looking one at that.  Definitely not the “great man” news articles are making him out to be. Sore loser after losing to Michigan in 1993.  He HATED Steve Fisher and the Fab Five.

I don't know how good a man he was, but he was a damn good basketball coach that earned everything he got on the court.  He made Temple a household name before anyone could spell 'tv contract' like we spell it today.

RIP, coach.

Given the usual respect for the dead, the Temple team had no business keeping up with our Fab Five #2 team but it wasn't until late we pulled away.

Most people will remember him for “send in the goons” or “I’ll kill you” to Calipari. But he did help a ton of kids in Philadelphia get an opportunity to be something they never would have gotten in life
