OT - Perfect movies/tv shows for mobile device?

Submitted by MGoBender on

These need not be Michigan related.

I just picked up an iPhone 4, upgrading from a 3GS.  One thing I didn't take a ton of advantage of is importing videos/movies into my phone.  So, that's what I'm doing with this one.

Currently, I have the first two seasons of the office and The Hangover.

The way I think of a "perfect" movie for a mobile device is something that will entertain me on a plane/in car for multiple viewings and something that doesn't need a mammoth TV screen (so sports probably a no).

So any suggestions?  What do you folks have on your mobile devices?

Contract ran out and my phone was beat up pretty bad.

There's a new iPhone every year and a half.  I tend to not get caught up in the "next great thing" because the next, next great new thing will follow shortly after.

EDIT: Also, I'm graduating in August and wanna make sure I keep my 10% UM student discount on this next contract.  That 10% saves me about $340 over two years.  Don't know if I'd be able to pull that off if I waited until mid-to-late Fall.

I'm a media nut and have about 650 movies in itunes.

I'm sitting here right now selecting movies for a trip myself.

My best advise is select ones with dialog/music you particularly like; you can't always plan on seeing the screen at all times.

plays movies all day the way other people play albums.  It's all in the dialog (and to a lesser extent the soundtrack) for her.

I've spent enough time in airports and on the road that the audio makes a difference.

I'm driving 450 miles into Canada tomorrow and just had to select Groundhog Day over The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

I've got the music to TGTB&TU anyway, and the Groundhog dialog is priceless.

If you have Netflix, download the Netflix app for your phone.  There are some pretty good shows on there.  I have been (re)watching the X-Files - Netflix has every single episode - and The Kennedys, which I think is solid.

I hadn't thought of Netflix, but if it works the way I envision it, that would be a great option.

I'm soon moving into a more rural area in about a month and seeing as I will no longer be a 10 minute walk from a library with a large DVD collection, I might look into Netflix if I can fit it into the budget.

Still using my iPhone 3G and I've watched the Citrus bowl game against florida a million times on this thing. A good HD feed will be viewable on the phone.

I watched the trailer on Netflix and I was not a fan.  I am going to go and watch the second episode because I think it is harsh to make a final decision on just the pilot.

Did you love it right away or did it build as the season progressed?
