OT: Article Highlights KY TE Coach Vince Marrow's Success in Ohio; Schadenfreude Ensues

I found this pretty funny.. A Cleveland.com article highlights Kentucky's recruiting successes in Ohio this year with TE Coach Vince Marrow (yes that Vince Marrow) as its focus.

Almost instantly the Dowell twins of Lakewood St. Edward HS, both 4 star recruits FLIP to Michigan State.

Twins David and Andrew Dowell have officially committed to Michigan State, flipping from Kentucky.

Coach interviews at Michigan. Is apparently offered the job. Calls recruits, saying he's taking the job. Eats a roast beef sandwich, lets rumors swirl. Calls UK and gets his raise. Turns down Michigan. Does interviews about why he turned down Michigan. Articles written about his recruiting prowess in Ohio-- Loses 2 toutes recruits, instantly.

I don't know, maybe I'm just a dick but it's funny to me.

Maybe funnier if they went somewhere else instead of being fighting couch burners. I'm past Marrow. We have one of the three top coaches in college football and 4-5 million worth of NFL experienced assistant coaches.

We dodged a bullet when UK gave Vince Marrow a raise and signed him to a three year contract. Marrow sounds like a self-promoter who initiated the contact with Harbaugh and leveraged the job offer into a better deal for himself at UK.

Offering Marrow a position on this staff was a mistake.

it looks like the 2nd brother is a 3*. Both look like your standard MSU-level kids, with decent-to-meh offer sheets. None of OSU, PSU, Iowa, or Michigan offered either, according to 247. At a school like St Eds, that says a lot.

I don't know anything about these kids... but Jake Ryan had a pretty weak offer sheet and was at a major program in Ohio.

I hate to say it, but by now you just have to accept that MD can identify and develop solid talent... and take some peace in the fact that we've got a coach who can get our boys in shape to kick their over-achieving asses.

So now Michigan has to deal with two 4* kids at MSU that otherwise would have wound up at UK and off the schedule?  Man, I'm laughing all the way to the bank.
