The Opening begins today
So the Opening, which recruits busted their butt to get invitations to, begins today and runs through Sunday.
We have 7 commits on the roster (Morris, Dawson, Lewis, McCray, Charlton, Bosch, and Butt) and several other targets there as well (Treadwell, Green, McQuay, Bailey, Fuller, Mathis).
I remember stories from last year's event about people not only getting the great work at the event and exposure to Hall of Fame players as coaches and mentors, but there was a lot of recruiting going on among the players as well.
I figured since I didn't see a thread for it, this would be good to keep all of the material related to The Opening in one place.
EDIT: While a search reveals multiple threads related to each participant getting their invitations, I did not see anything for the event itself.
This will be airing on ESPNU Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8p. DVR is set!
TWSS?
is bringing a cannon arm and magic recruiting dust.
We will open our arms to welcome Laquan to the Maize & Blue family!
With our OL and QB commits, it is not hard to imagine there will be many many great catches Laquan will make during his M playing days!
There was a thread a few weeks back about LTT getting his invite to the event, but he's not on the roster. Anyone know what's up with that?

not a bad choice to have to make
There's a tweet from Morris saying the M commits will be making a video at the Opening.
Maybe they are collaborating with Treadwell on a smooth commitment video for coach Hoke...
The video they create doesn't resemble Tommy Lee's and Pam's.
Dude...
I've heard that Treadwell may commit at the opening.
I remember last year the Michigan players were not allowed to participate in the padded drills because of some dumb MHSSA rule.
Will the players run into this same situation this year?
Shane Morris is puttin in work... a natural born leader!
What are these Dawson comments based on? I feel like I follow recruiting pretty closely, and this is the first I've heard anyone questioning Dawson's commitment.
EDIT: Nevermind... some Twitter bullshit. Now I can go about my evening.
How exactly is it just "some twitter bullshit"? If he declared he was decomitting over twitter would you still write it off? He is saying that his teamates ditched him and he's hanging out with Brantley and the rest of the UF group, just because it's on twitter it doesn't worry you? If it was on Facebook would it be different? Myspace? Google+? Where is the line?
I think he's just trying to say that nothing usually comes from subtle tweets like this. He is still committed to us and I doubt a couple days will change that fact. He is getting to know other football players in the state, is there anything wrong with that? You don't have to have just one set of friends you know.
Don't be silly. If he said that he was decommiting in any forum, I would take it seriously, although less seriously in any social media forum than if it were an interview with him or an article on an actual website. But my point is that he didn't say anything anywhere near decommiting, yet you continue to push your inference that if you read between the lines of some random tweet, that's where this is headed. I would be really disappointed if he decommited... maybe even upset. Yet, I refuse to play this popular game of letting my emotions live or die by obsessively interpreting some random tweet from a teenager.
When has Dawson ever sounded happy? The kid has a chip on his shoulder all the time. Considering his situation, I understand why. But it's not like he's usually happy-go-lucky.
