Obi Ezeh and Jonas Mouton

Submitted by varney_go_blue on
What should we do with these guys?... Going into this year I thought we were pretty set at LB but I was severely wrong. It's crazy to think that we recruited Ezeh as a Running Back and Mouton as a safety and neither one plays those positions. Brandon Smith and J.B. Fitzgerald might come in and get their positions. I do think that Ezeh and Mouton are too good to not be on the field. With the probable shift of Van Bergen to Defensive End and Martin to Defensive Tackle and Will Campbell in as Nose Tackle, I would hope that we can get Mouton and Ezeh back on the field. If Mouton could shed a few pounds, I think he could move to Stevie Brown's spot. Any ideas...?

I think Brandon Smith is taking over for Stevie Brown and Fitzgerald may take over for Ezeh (maybe Mouton?) There are also young players behind them like Demens where they could impress in spring ball. All I can say for sure is LB spots (other than Roh's) are WIDE open.

well...for ezeh...one possibility, at least on passing downs is: NT: Martin DT: Van Bergen DE: Roh Q: Ezeh but in all likelihood, both stay at ILB. Most of the mistakes they made last season were mental, and are thus correctable. MLB: Ezeh, Fitzgerald, Demens, Bell WLB: Mouton, Leach, Smith, Jones SLB: Kovacs?, Hawthorne, Simmons

i have no idea where people get the idea that Kovacks can play linebacker. it makes no sense. Also, i HIGHLY doubt that Ezeh will be moved to quick when Roh has the position on lock. The most probable options are having a Roh/Campbell/Marting/VB line with Fitz, Mouton, Smith at LB. Then some combination of Woolfolk, Turner, Kovacks, and Floyd(?) in the secondary.

Jordan Kovacs is not going to play SAM. How many times does that stupid idea need to be beaten to death until it actually dies? Anyway, Mouton needs to stay at WILL. He can be an effective player there. There's no need to move a bunch of guys all over the place just for the sake of moving them, because then you have to start the learning curve practically all over again.

can everybody agree that it is in the best interest of michigan for kovacs to not see the field, he is a great story in all but leaves much to be desired for a FBS safety. hindsight i wish michigan would have given vlad/floyd more looks at safety so they could have had game experience going into this coming year.

Emilien from what I've seen has the same problems as Kovacs -- too young to know the position very well, and too slow to use speed to make up for it. Remember this: Kovacs can tackle, which is more than I can say for a lot of other guys. I would like to see Woolfolk stay at Strong Safety, with Kovacs/Williams/Emilien/Gordon battling for the free spot. Corner minus Warren is going to look pretty ugly, but with all the incoming talent, chances are good that at least one of them or Turner will be able to come in and play press, so long as Woolfolk is behind them.

#1) they dont play the same position. emilien - ss. kovacs - fs. #2) where did you see emilien playing safety? in high school? in a pick up game? where did you notice that he was too slow and too dumb to play? #3) u fail to mention mrob at fs.

And the Spring Game. I wrote an e-mail to Brian with my concerns after that. It had photos. And Geometry. Would have been a Diary, but I didn't have the skills at imaging yet back then. Suffice to say, Emilien's top-end speed was severely lacking then, and from watching him this year in the spotty opportunities he got, it left something to be desired. I don't think he's "stupid." I do think he was a true freshman this year, and any true freshman that has the awareness to play safety right away is an exceptional case. I imagine RR knew safety was going to be a weak spot this year, and when Emilien said he would enroll early, RR was all for giving him a chance to earn the spot. But that injury that knocked Emilien out of his senior year (and kept him from going to Ohio State) probably was still slowing him down, and in retrospect, once that was apparent, Vlad probably should have received a redshirt. My predictions for him haven't changed since the Spring Game: backup who becomes a solid starter late in his career, i.e. Brandent Englemon. In that context, a redshirt would maybe have given us two starting years from the Once and Future Impaler.

He did look a bit slow in the spring game, but I think that his speed could improve after another year removed from that catastrophic knee injury. At least, let's pray that he improves. I was hoping we would just redshirt him last year and that he would be starting either this next year or 2011.

with his posts. He brought a lot of enthusiasm when it was needed. Unfortunately, he let other posters get to him too easily when he should have just brushed it off and continued to contribute in a responsible, respectable way.

No , em01 did make a few good posts but most were redundant garbage and now he has stooped to degrading and berating people because he did not know when to leave well enough alone. I was all for giving him a second chance but it is getting old now.

Would it make you feel better if I posted threads like this? Hey Recruiting Guru's, What position do the coaches want 2019 recruit DeAndre Reynolds to play? Right now he's a 3'10" 7 year old, but both his mom and dad are pretty tall and everyone expects him to grow to about 6'2". According to his teacher, he's the fast kid in his class and has even beaten some 5th graders in a race!!! I've read that he's projected to play LB, but with his speed I think we should move him to safety. Does anyone know where I can find scouting tapes on him?

Haha...Lighten up dude. You actually started some really good threads with you k06em01 account before your meltdown. This is an online message board and people are going to be smart asses. Just create a new account, lighten up, don't worry about people being smart asses, and have fun.

i dont need to create an account. the only people on here with high mgopoints...aside from tomvh (and others who actually call recruits to give us new information)...are those that are good at never expressing any of their own individual opinons that dont go along with whats cool here in nerd land. i say, to hell with that. ill say what i want and i dont care if the nerds like it or not.
