Obi Ezeh's Back Injury - Rivals link and TTB link - Does anyone know more about this?

Submitted by TESOE on

This was lightly skirted a month ago on the board...Magnus is harping this in his TTB  Kevin Leach rundown and in his countdown explanation.  All I see on this is the Rivals comment

Certainly this makes a difference wrt to last year and expectations for this one.  Ezeh has NFL measurables and this year is going to be make or break for him.

Is there a better link with more info?  Is this a nagging injury or is Obi even going to be 100% this fall?

I hadn't heard about it, but Obi's biggest problems last year, indecision and bad zone drops don't relate directly to any back problems.

I can tell you've never had a back problem, because having to perform a zone drop, in my opinion, would be exceedingly difficult to execute with an aching back.

Yet another reason to be optimistic - Ezeh should be healthy, and he'll have Demens as an alternative to go to in case of injury/poor performance.

all i know is michigan has had too many DC's, new defenses, and too many issues with depth for me to point fingers at current Michigan defense players.

sure, i would have liked for Ezeh to progress quicker. at the same time, i would like to have seen Michigan recruit 1/5 as many pure LB types as OSU has in the past 5-10 years. Ezeh is a converted RB, thrusted into a LB role becuase of various reasons. Michigan hasn't had the consistent depth, coaching, or scheme to really get the chance to see Ezeh make a lasting impact.

I take it nobody has had a back problem on the board.

Couldn't even imagine trying to run let alone play football with a bad back or any sort of back injury.

These injuries won't be so costly when we finally get some depth in place.

with regards to his back. The severity could vary from a minor strain to bulging/cracked disk. Running with a minor strain might not be bad, I've done it myself albeit I'm 100 lbs lighter than him. I think the problem regardless of the severity will be hitting people. Having the shock run down your back cannot feel good nor can it be conducive to healing. I think the best we can do is hope for 100% by fall.
