Excellent.

Roundtree had 9 catches for 116 yards the last time he took the field.

And our defense only gave up 67 yards through the air.

It's interesting to think about how the outcome could have been different without the 5 Tate turnovers.

I was 70% sure  i was going to get arrested for drunk and disorderly misconduct after this game. I must have yelled at and scared 10-15 OSU fans on the way out of the stadium.

How about you take the loss like a grown man...just saying.  I absolutely hate when I go to other venues and there is some (normally drunk) guy screaming at the top of their lungs at other fans about why their team loss.  We lost because Ohio State was the better team that day.  Sure Tate had a bad day...but he was/is our QB.  Visiting fans, even if they are from Ohio, should be able to enjoy the game as well as bring their families to games.

This is just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

How did it happen anyway? The Big House was definitely divided that day!

But one positive thing about that is how well they played. They should really hit on that when going to the shoe this year.........it was pretty much a road game for them last year

I still can't believe all the buckeyes that were at Michigan Stadium. I was at the game and I was the only Michigan shirt within 10 rows of red. I felt like I was at the horseshoe.

This is a neggable comment? Will the brave person(s) who negged this comment summon the courage to explain why?

This comment "there is more red than Maize & Blue." is saying basically the same damn thing, yet it's posbanged.

Both are perfectly reasonable comments from people who were either at the game or watched it, yet the reaction to them is completely different. Some MGoBloggers must be bipolar.

critical of RR's spread often say that the majority of the pass plays are lateral.  Watching this game through the first two quarters I've seen a bunch of vertical pass plays.  Michigan moved the ball well against a very good defense.  If not for a few mistakes, this game could've easily gone the other way.

I'm sorry, but this game is encouraging to me.  The defense played really well.  The offense also played well minus the shots to the foot.  You have to think that with the offense having all starters who have game experience and lots of them with 3 years in the system will stop shooting themselves so much.  Not to mention both QB's have a lot more experience both in game and in the offense.  This game more than any other shows how close they were to being a good team, and I think one year can make the difference.  I truly do.

Our offense was not the problem last year (except for turnovers), our defense was the problem. And our offense even should be better this year because we now have two talented QBs with experience running RR's spread system and a year under Barwis.

Of course, the flip to this is that even with a good offense we will continue to struggle against the best teams until we substantially improve our defense. A big question this year is whether the expected general improvement in our defense across the board will be enough to more than offset the losses of our two best defensive players (Graham and Warren). We are all hoping it will be, but it is possible we won't see a substantially improved defense until 2011.

The most frustrating thing about the 2009 OSU game was that it was one of the few games all year in which our defense stepped up and played well for four quarters only to have our offense let us down instead. Brandon Graham was a monster in that game and the entire defense seemed to play at a higher level. I am also not convinced OSU was throttling back its offense any more than they normally do. At least since TP took over at QB, OSU has run a relatively conservative offense and relied heavily on a strong defense to win many of its games. I question whether last year's OSU team had the ability to crank up the offense at will as some here have suggested.

IMO, we lost the OSU game primarily because of several key self-inflicted turnovers (Forcier fumble in the endzone and a couple of late Forcier interceptions) and a very painful-to-watch screen pass by TP on third down that totally fooled our defense and resulted in a TD for OSU. It was not even that special of a pass, but it was a great play call because our defense was aggressively overplaying the run to contain TP. Eliminate a couple of self-inflicted turnovers and stop the TP screen pass and we absolutely could have won that game.

I forgot how well they did move the ball against OSU's defense. OSU didn't stop Michigan, but Michigan stopped themselves. At least there is some upside from this game coming into next season, unlike 2008.

Look, it's obvious Tressel was playing with a kindergarten offense. Pryor put the ball in the air maybe, what, 18 times?

If we ever seriously threatened that game, he'd obviously open it up a bit and keep the pressure back on us to produce.

Molk and Minor would have changed the dynamic of that game completely. Damn it. I mean, it's always something. Some handicap, some coaching mistake, some boneheaded play... Every year!

Tressel didn't play any more or less conservative this game than he had all year.  He was criticized for this throughout 2009.  Given Tressel is no idiot, it's clear why he took this approach: he didn't trust Pryor, because of what he saw in practice.

No illusion, Michigan's D played well against a limited OSU offense (Saine and Herron are very average).  Now in the 3rd Q., OSU still ran the ball all over us.  But this game was as close as it seemed; even winnable

Tressel took his deep shots - Pryor missed both.

I actually like how we looked in this game, too...aside from the turnovers.

We moved the ball very well but shot ourselves in the foot in the redzone. I thought the coaches really gave us a good chance to win...it was just a terrible series of mental breakdowns on the part of Tate Forcier (mostly). Defensively, we played the best game we had played all season long.

The Mich State game is about to air...thought we looked pretty ugly in that game aside from a great comeback at the end. Really get to see Tate's leadership potential shine through along with Stonum showcasing his playmaking ability. It was a heartbreaker. I hope we cream 'em this year.

Was very close to becoming one that Tressel could have blown by taking it easy on Michigan. I'm not sure Pryor and the offense could have "turned it on" had Michigan gotten lucky and found itself winning in the fourth quarter.

But alas, OSU simply was and is light years better than Michigan.

a sound passing game will be needed against teams built like OSU. we werent going to run well vs them, but the passing game worked well at times minus Tate being a freshmen. good news though. we're done with 2 straight years of 3 freshmen QB's and a walk on running the offense. i think we're going to see marked improvement out of the QB's this year.

Michigan still played a solid game despite being shorthanded on O and a few big freshmen mistakes

-5 turnovers by Forcier

-Michigan missed a field goal

-turned the bowl over in OSU's redzone

-turned the ball over allowing a TD for OSU

-Minor and Brown were both out

-Molk was out

I'd like to see a UFR for this game to see if the improvement that we think was there is just an illusion or if the team played a legitimately better game than they had in the previous weeks.

actually of use?  She caught RR pleading to Tate, which I think may be the one reason he doesn't start this year: on the 3rd interception, the back-breaker in the end zone, "Tate, throw the ball where the play is designed to go!"  RR loves his game-planning, with good reason.  Too often last year Tate took off and ad-libbed.  Much of this was forced due to poor OL blocking (see: TD pass to Smith this OSU game), but many others he seemed to do out of habit.  I also remain steadfast in my belief, however, after watching these games over the last few Saturdays, that he's a great QB.  Though I recognize the awesome potential of DRob.  Both play!

I have to give credit to whoever the guy(s) here on mgoblog is who's been harping on the zone read.  Watching these games, he's correct - Tate didn't run that play particularly well, and Denard wasn't even allowed to.  It was open many times last year, if the right decision were made

They will be drilling this to death in August.

OSU's final TD reminded me how our tendency to throw all-out blitzes on third and goal became way too predictable.  Both PSU and OSU burned us on it.

During the MSU replay (which aired right after this), Wayne Larrivee offered this gem: "Kirk Cousins has literally killed Michigan with his scrambling today."  Oh, Wayne...
