Mallett article in USA Today

Submitted by AZBlue on

I did not see this on the board this week.

USA today had a big article on Mallett in the Thursday or Friday edition.

It detailed his life-long Arkansas fandom, how he used to park cars at the stadium as a kid to get free tickets, and how he (essentially) was forced elsewhere by the Mitch Mustain signing at Arkansas.

The article notes that with the Mustain transfer and coaching changes at both U of M and Arkansas the door opened for Mallett to transfer.

I don't have the link as I read it the "old fashioned way" but it would be a good reference for those who say RR ran him out of town......his heart was always at Arkansas regardless of where he was actually playing.

how much of that story is hindsight fandom.  Sort of like how if a relationship works out then you get to call it "love at first sight," and if it doesn't, then it was "just a crush."

Ryan Mallet may have stayed at Michigan if RR was not the hire after Lloyd, but I doubt that counts as "RR ran him out of town."  Maybe I am just lacking all of the information, but if you were Ryan Mallett and a coach came in looking for a QB with the skill set of Superma...i mean Denard Robinson, wouldn't you look for a more suitable fit?  Mallett is an NFL quality and styled QB, staying at Michigan would have been a mistake for him.  I wish him the best of luck and hope he beats Bama.
