I can understand people who criticize the Fab Five for the scandal that followed, but calling them "the best chokers" is ridiculous. As freshmen, they were clearly outclassed in the second half versus Duke. It was disappointing, but it doesn't make them chokers. Then, the next year, they were already trailing in the closing seconds when Chris Webber made the infamous T.O. call. I would have thought the way he carried them past Kentucky the game before, and how he kept them in the game all night against N.C. would have negated any rational person from calling him a "choker." One team doesn't have to be "chokers" for the other team to win.

"Leaders and Best" and all that...and all the talk of what Michigan "stands for" and trying to do things the right way--these guys turned out to be a complete disgrace who helped turn UM into much less than even an afterthought. I can't get behind them and don't understand people who still revel in their "accomlishments." Shit, Michigan fans rail on MSU or other schools for a whole lot less than these guys were PROVEN to have done. Doesn't make sense to me.

so much as I blame Steve Fisher. There will always be kids who are lured by the money. What made the penalties for Michigan so great was that the coaching staff should have known about it, but did nothing to stop it. Edit: If I'm getting negged for the title of my post, let me clarify -- I said I don't blame them SO MUCH AS..., meaning that I place MORE blame on Steve Fisher. I did not state that there is no blame for players like Chris Webber.

But of course, this whole points thing has made this a board of retaliatory, passive-agressive sissies. Anyway, I just wish I knew they all would have come to Michigan even if Easy Money Ed Martin wasn't handing out money. At least we'd have that to go on. it's one thing to have guys stuffing fitty dollar bills in their jocks at halftime of the Illinois game--another thing entirely to have Easy Ed paying them to sign on the dotted line. But Karma is indeed a bitch. And no one has been soul-dong-kidney-judo-chopped more than Chris Webber, and no one has deserved it more.

You really should hold back on the "those guys" comments, unless you want to get into making accusations that were never proven in about the most comprehensive investigation in the history of the NCAA (having FBI cooperation is nice). Chris Webber was found to have taken money from Ed Martin during the Fab Five era. That's it. Jalen Rose is arguably the best player in the history of UM basketball and he has given back generously to Detroit and the U of M. At least keep it accurate.

For all the talk and the swagger and the self-promotion that came along with the Fab 5, which continues to this day, their inability to finish is absolutely and totally fair to criticize. Yes, they choked. They opened themselves up to the term. In the long run, though, we're better off having to vacate two Final Four appearances than two National Championships.

These guys are known for baggy shorts and sagging them. It's much easier to shit your pants that way, and the baggier they are the more shit they hold! Who could have known they were such visionaries?
