Jim Harbaugh Continues to Troll the SEC

Submitted by Candor for Sale on

After a relatively slow board weekend, Jim Harbaugh wastes no time spicing things up on a Monday.

Could he actually be trolling MGoBlog?!

We always say "if Rich Rod had done it..." "if Hoke would've done that..." "Harbaugh gets away with that because he wins..."

Maybe Harbaugh reads MGoBlog and wanted to see if he could get away with the ultimate troll of, US!?

Crazy Jim decided to try and pick a fight with other far more respected, and far more winning coaches inside the big ten was maybe a little funny. But it seems now that he simply has a truely abrasive personally that has already lead to him getting fired with SF49's, from which he obviously has learned nothing. He now is showing his ass to the SEC, who damn near owns college football, and all this after pissing off both Dantonio and Meyer, both who beat his ass on the field were it counts. Understand ? Beat his ass on the field !! Seems Crazy Jim is genuinely a bonified asshole, that at this point has now has no friends or allies in two of the most powerful conferences in the game, nor does he have any meaningful wins. What this means is nobody really cares what he thinks about anything. I realize that because of UM's deep and long lived fall from grace that many UM fans might support his Eddie Haskell type behavior, but I got to tell you, it's not good for UM in the long run. All he is doing is isolating himself, his team, and the program, and the NCAA itself. We all know that no matter what your game is, making more and more enemies is not a path to success. Urban Meyer strongly suggested that the NCAA allow schools to provide $$ help to the families of players in the post season. Literally a few weeks later it was policy. With Harbaugh's " rub everybody you can the wrong way as often as you can behavior" He will never command the same level of respect or influence as some like Urban Meyer or Nick Saban. The truth is everyone has already grown tired of his nonsense. Why does he continue to act like he is 6 years old ? He is the guy pictured, and the whole world sees the guy pictured. A coach who just got his ass beat, again. Uploaded with Imgupr

This really is his "What's Your Deal?" moment.

We all knew this was coming.  It has always been Harbaugh's mode of operation to pick a fight early on with the biggest bully on the block.

We all thought it would be Urban Meyer (and that day may yet come), but as usual we were thinking too small while Harbaugh was way ahead of us.

Harbaugh has picked a fight with the entire SEC.  Not just one program or coach, but the entire conference and its commissioner.

Even Buckeyes and Sparties have a grudging respect for what he has just done.

It's pure Harbaugh.

We need the rest of the Big Ten to man up and give more vocal support to Harbaugh.

They don't have to love Harbaugh, and they will have plenty of other opportunities to tsk tsk him down the road, I assure you.

But on this particular issue, the Big Ten and indeed the other non-SEC conferences are being played for fools.

The SEC - the cesspool of shady recruiting practices - wants to claim the fake moral high ground and lead the rest of the country around by the nose to get rule changes that benefit . . . the SEC.

You don't have to love Harbaugh to speak out against this epic level of hypocrisy, manipulation, and deceit.

Dantonio recently said that he thought the Southern Camp Foray was an interesting idea, that he'd not thought of before, and he would give it consideration for MSU moving forward.  That's pretty close to an endorsement of Harbaugh's position, especially considering the source.

And I think MSU and other schools would be wise to have camps down South or out West if they can afford it.  I suspect most football players would like the notion of making camp a bit more interesting, and recruits would be attracted to it also (e.g., "I may be in A2 for a cold winter each year, but at least I get a Spring trip most years").  Not to mention the obvious recruiting exposure each program would gain by camping out in prospect-rich environs.

I'd only expect resistance from B1G schools facing budgetary constraints.

I agree with that sentiment, other than the notion that players down south would be more attracted to UM because of Spring Break trip. If they grew up in FL, tolerating 3 months+ of cold winters to go back to FL for 1 week doesn't sounds that appealing (plus they could go back home if they had the week off anyway).

Same with "insert state here" in the south or west.

It may help with midwest recruits, but again, its just a week. Definitely more of a recruiting benefit in that high school students can see UM up close (and be top of mind).

Um, I am not seeing a ton of "grudging respect" for Harbaugh on the MSU message boards I've gone to. Mostly, he is called a cheater, a psycho, sometimes even a pedophile (for the sleepovers), but unless you and I have very different definitions of "respect," I'm just not seeing it... ;-)

To be fair,  there's a difference between MSU (by which I mean the entity, in the form of Dantoni, the AD, and other staff) and MSU fans on a message board.   Clearly idiot fans are not going to show any kind of respect or approval of anything, but I agree with some of the other posts that Dantoni is starting to show a minimal amount of "grudging respect".

But the poster we are referencing here said, "Even Buckeyes and Sparties have a grudging respect for what he has just done." I took that to mean ordinary fans too. Like just ordinary, regular, non-affiliated fans, like, for instance, Lebron James for the Buckeyes...

The response on 11W, for example, has been one of grudging respect for what Harbaugh has done.

Of course it's expressed exactly the way you would think it would be on 11W:  "Harbaugh is an asshole / scUM / eats children / going to the NFL anyway . . . but he's right on this one."

Definitely grudging, but still respect.

OK, fair enough. You raise an interesting point. I think we need to come up with a new Ratio, the "Grudge-to-Respect Ratio." 0:1 is pure respect; looks like with OSU fans, it is something like 10:1.

Damn, I just invented a fact right now!

because they keep asking for it.  They act really indignant and violated when someone has the tamarity to step on "their" turf even though technically no one really owns it.  Then they turn around and cheat like hell in other areas.  Harbaugh has no respect for them as a result.  The Citrus bowl probably only emboldened him to troll the SEC all the more.  He doesn't really go after Sparty or the Buckeyes because he respects them as competitors.  Meyer hasn't done anything to incite fans or the Michigan community since Harbaugh has taken over.  Harbaugh would probably be willing to take a few swipes at Dantoni if not for the outcome of the game last fall.
