Lots of them due to the new NCAA rule of only two guys at one jersey number.

  • #0 Giles Jackson (was #15)
  • #1 Nico Collins (was #4)
  • #4 Vincent Gray (was #31)
  • #9 Chris Evans (was #12 in 2018)
  • #9 Sammy Faustin (was #17)
  • #13 Jake Moody (was #2)
  • #14 Quinten Johnson (was #23)
  • #15 Andy Maddox (was #9)
  • #16 Jalen Perry (was #3)
  • #22 Danny Hughes (was #28)
    #24 George Johnson (was #22)
  • #28 Tyler Cochran (was #30)
  • #28 Christian Turner (was #3)
  • #29 Jared Davis (was #23)
  • #29 Joey Velazquez (was #9)
  • #31 Lucas Andrighetto (was #49)
  • #33 German Green (was #13)
  • #35 Caden Kolesar (was #40)
  • #36 Charles Thomas (was #13)
  • #37 Edward Warinner (transfer from MSU)
  • #42 John Baty (was #41)
  • #54 Adam Fakih (was #41)
  • #55 David Ojabo (was #71)
  • #72 Elijah Pierre (grad transfer from Brown)
  • #88 Mathew Harrison (was #42)
  • #90 Mike Morris (was #80)
  • #91 Brad Robbins (was #3)

Walk on QB Max Wittwer rejoins the roster after an absence in 2019, now has #18 instead of #16 which he wore in 2016.

#0 is legal for the first time in college football history. Giles Jackson and Andre Seldon will both be the inaugural donners of the zero.

I am interested to hear how they will resolve the apparent "feud" between Freshmen RJ Moten and Darion Green-Warren for jersey #6 (they're both listed as "6/TBD"). Water pistol duel during camp? Fastest Fake 40 time? Best singing voice? Other ideas?

I've always wondered about the story behind Grant Perry switching to #88 and giving up the #9 to Donovan Peoples-Jones. My guess is that it was because Perry got in trouble in East Lansing and was suspended from the team for a while, and since Peoples-Jones wanted #9, the staff made the upperclassman pick a new number.
