Greg Mattison on Harbaugh's staff? He's still recruiting

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Found this interesting piece on Twitter.

Isaac Nauta is the #1 TE out of Buford, GA and is an FSU commit.

Isaac Nauta (@inauta24) said he talked to Greg Mattison: “He said I know you’re committed, but we’re going to recruit you until you sign.”

But will still be tough to pry Isaac Nauta (@inauta24) away from #FSU. He loves Tim Brewster and how he could feature in #Noles’ offense.

Same. Unsure what Drevno as OC will really do though because apparently Harbaugh will be calling the plays. I imagine hes going to be labeled as OC/OL coach, which makes me so happy.

I could only find a GatorFanatic article that didn't have the terms (and was also a couple days old), but they had said as early as the 30th that it would happen. If so, Durkin and Mattison having roles on this defense makes me think we can put something together that is, to use a favorite phrase of my son's, "scary good".

But I have a friend who claims that he is close friends with Durkin and stated as of noon yesterday, Michigan had not even contacted him. When I provided the link to the 247 article he still adamantly claim that Michign had not contacted him. He does believe that in the end he winds up at Michigan. I have called BS on just how close of friend he might given that he is so far off base

Not a surprise. Harbaugh isn't going to make a move on defensive assistants until Durkin gets here. Retaining Mattison in some form/fashion gives JH some strong insight on what's been happening on the defensive side of the ball.

Once the reports came out he hadn't really left the area when Hoke was fired, it felt like this could be a possibility.  Man, this team is going to be a monster on the recruiting trail the next couple of years.

One of the reasons he wanted to come to Michigan was to settle in same town with his grandchildren. I suspect he will stay and try to work something out to remain on the staff. I think his ego can take not being DC. His rep is well established and this is his last stop.

he stays as a LB coach if he accepts it and maybe a pay cut but its over my head, i like to get everyone riled up over my made up thoughts.
