Effect of early commitments

Submitted by Bluestreak on

I was wondering how much effect does an early commitment have on a program's future recruitment.

If a 5 star commits early to a school does that on average attract more higher quality recruits to the class?

If so - is there any research available on this?

Also - does the number of early commitments have an impact on the overall class? I know Texas pretty much locks up its commits 1 year before anyone does (at least last year). In such cases do they fair better or is it a disadvantage since you lock out other elite prospects from looking at you?

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thank you.

well lets think about this...If I were say a  qb or cb and you saw dorial green-beckham commit to lets use toledo for shits an giggles never gonna happen but I would worship the kid but back to the point.. I would rather be throwing the ball to him or if i was a CB i would not be signing up at any other MAC school other than UT so yeah it effects allot IMO.

After today's posts, I am not sure the board is all that concerned with what you may or may not appreciate - you are going to hear it and you are going to like it and that is final.

the board was very heavy yesterday with people stating their beliefs, regardless of context.  the most popular belief that was stated was that "people who have beliefs won't stray from them."  hence, no one cared what the OP appreciated, everyone was going to hear some declarative statements backed up by trite aphorisms.
