extremely dry, spring blizzards are the norm, landlocked and very brown, and pretty boring if you aren't into hill walking (true mountaineering is limited to a handful of mountains out there that are extremely difficult to get to and it is only possible for only a few months a year), mountain biking, and or skiing/snowboarding.

Ton of hype, played sparingly as other guys had a lot of success (he was there when they had the big upsets of Nebraska and Texas to win the Big 12 when Nebraska still ended up in the national title game because of the BCS computers).  RB coach called him by a girl's name and he eventually transferred to CSU.

According to a buddy of mine who went to CU, he also put on some entertaining in-class presentations where he was somehow able to relate any important literary or historical figure/event to rap stars of the day.

EDIT: And it was 15 years ago, not 10.  OP is old.

Ranked 6th in the nation overall in the class of 2008 according to Rivals, and reminds me of the recruitment of David Oku in 2009 albeit with different overall prospect rankings. I have no idea who the Houston guy they're referencing above is, but you're right as far as who asked the question was referring to I believe.

He was more recent.  Committed in the early days of Hawkins' tenure, largely because his uncle was on the team at CU.  Played less than expected as a freshman, his uncle transferred to UCLA, so he ended up leaving too and landed at USF.  Sat out a year then had an 800+ yard season, immediately went pro only to go undrafted and end up quickly out of football.

the accomplishment of being first team all state as a sophomore, but this is Colorado we're talking about.  I live out here and the high school football is okay, at best.  Kemp was fist team all state in the 5A callsification.  Looking at the 1st team seniors for 5A, there's about 6 that will land D1 scholarships.  A few that will go 1-AA or lower and then a few that don't even have recruiting profiles on Rivals.

On Rivals, you can look at recruiting rankings in each state.  However, there are only 39 states listed.  The states which do not have their own rankings are:  Colorado, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire.

Don't get me wrong, 3 time 1st team All State is great but this is one of the weaker states in the country when it comes to producing college football players.

Yep, I don't know why we wasted a scholarship on a guy from New Mexico, which is even worse than Colorado when it comes to producing talent—Alan Branch certainly never did anything at UM, but that's what you get when you take players from states like that.

son of former Colorado U HC Bill McCartney, also happened to be an assistant under Bo.

Even though Bill McCartney is a Colorado legend, his roots run deep in Michigan.  Wiki says he's the only HS coach Bo ever hired, and the only HS coach in Michigan history to coach state championships in both basketball and football the same year.

I'm guessing that Kemp's coach and coach's father put in a good word for Harbaugh.

Welcome to A2 Mr. Kemp
