Bar by the Joe?
I have a little dilemma that I'm sure will be shared by others. Assuming a Michigan hockey win tonight, my dad is coming in for the CCHA finals. Basketball starts at 5:50 and finals at 7:50. Not horrible timing, but I figure the best bet is to watch the bball game at a bar close to the Joe. I'm blanking, so any ideas of where to go?

Is near JLA, but not sure about the TV situation there. (It has been a while since I was in that part of town).

Anchor Bar at Fort & Cass is pretty solid, plenty of TVs, and probably a lot of UM people doing the same thing you're planning to do.

Cobo Joe's on Congress right across from Cobo is pretty solid.

Honestly, if I were you, I would just stay around Fox/Comerica Park. Cheli's is a good time. There is always hockeytown cafe.
There a couple places near Greektown- Detroit Pub and Old Shillelagh.
Nemo's also comes to mind over near the old Tiger's Stadium (I think they run a bus, not sure though).
I know these options aren't super close to the Joe but its a better area and I am guessing you would have more fun watching the game at one of these places.

Nemo's on Michigan Ave. is the best sports bar in Detroit. They have a few flat screens, and run a shuttle to the Joe.
