This week we get into the Single-Wing. Why was it a big part of football in the first half of the 20th Century, how did defenses adjust to it, what more can you do with it, and how can Michigan use this offense in 2024 to maximize hybrid skill player like Orji, Mullings, Bredeson, Edwards, and Loveland? This time, even though we already did a Neck Sharpies on it, Matt wanted to get further into what happened on the two Donovan Edwards runs, so we zoomed in on the thing Washington was doing, which was to have the DTs be the read instead of the MLB. This one was a special one where we get into the meat of how Michigan’s passing defense was so good. Specifically, how Minter was great at marrying his pressures and fake pressures to his coverages, playing “made you look” with NFL-bound Michael Penix until he gave up on the read and throw abilities that made them the most lethal offensive weapon of the last decade.
