It's going to be fascinating to see how much Jimmy changed college football when it's all said and done. No coach pushed for player revenue sharing harder than Harbaugh. He was all about player rights, and look what happened with the transfer portal. And let's face it, this signgate bullshit was the last domino to fall to allow helmet comms.
What's next, are they going to allow summer camps across the country and mandate whole milk at every training table?
Wonder how many MSU fans will tune in to watch a record number of big brothers get drafted.
This was actually posted on a MSU board regarding JJ:
"What I'm wondering is if the sign stealing / cheating is as bad as we all think, why is JJ projected to be drafted possibly top 5 overall? Wouldn't GM's and scouts have some worries how he'll perform when he doesn't know exactly what the defense is running? I really can't figure this out because the scouts have to know all of the details."
sat next to a guy while I was wearing a block M pullover at a restaurant bar in SLC last week. He said, "don't hate me if I tell you I went to Alabama". I said, "why would I? We won".
Brian made a good point that even shitty NHL teams want to get their potential stars to sign earlier so that they can get them on the 2nd contract before they elevate to the next level of performance. That way they can hopefully sign them for less than what they would with one more year or seasoning/development.
ha, that's awesome. I really don't remember much about Jason. I looked it up and he was a career 82.6% FT shooter at WMU. Looks like he only played there 3 years, 1994/5/6. I don't recall if he got injured.
John Garavaglia (MSU) won Mr. Basketball in 1993. I have been trying to find the voting list from that year but cannot. Chris Crawford (Comstock) came in top 5. I believe St. Clair Shores Lakeshore had a big guy that finished near the top. Don't know where Saddi/Black finished
I am his age. We played against him in summer ball before our senior year in 1993. Also played against Jason Black (Holt?) and they played together at WMU.
Didn't really know Saddi, we spoke a bit between games that day. Seems like a good guy. Wish him the best.
Jimmy picked him up by his underwear in front of the largest college football viewing audience 3 years in a row. Probably best to just shut up. Really fucking tough of him to talk shit when he knows Jim can’t kick his ass for a 4th consecutive year.
seriously, if I were on his roster these comments would make me rethink my opinion of him.
"Georgia holds the record for most NFL draft selections by a college in a single year since the NFL draft became seven rounds in 1994, setting the mark at 15 players in 2022."
You just know that if Michigan is sitting at 15 players when the Chargers on on the clock at pick #253, Jimmy is going to break that tie with a Michigan player.
I just don't believe that he'll be there at 11. Feels like the Vikings acquired the #23 pick solely to package with #11 to trade up to 5ish to take JJ before the Giants. It would be quite a coup for them to get him at #11 and hold onto pick #23.
This is exactly the point Joel Klatt was making recently. Harbaugh and his staff were expert at several things: recruit scouting, player development, locker room culture, and Xs & Os.
Conversely coach 3rd base seems to only be good at begging his AD/donor base to cut checks for hired help.
There aren't a lot of coaches that can take the preseason #4 ranked team all the way to the 2nd round then get their asses kicked by the preseason #19 ranked team (UNC) with such grace.
I hope May shoves his ass out to pasture in the slowest, most painful was as possible.

think i'm around 25 parks, and a few that no longer exist (yankees, busch, atlanta, tigers).
Wrigley is my #1 for obvious reasons. Doesn't get much better than drinking suds while leaning against the LF foul pole on a warm afternoon.
Fenway is incredible, got to see a game on top of the green monster which is next level, literally.
PacBell/Giants is my favorite of the newer parks. The location on the bay is amazing.
SD, my current town is great, I spent a year a few blocks from the park. they have a great area for kids beyond CF as well.
It's just a made up term these days and people can choose to manipulate the definition to fit their argument.

I could see jimmy, johnny, or MacDonald-y using the Michigan connection as a tie-breaker in the 7th round to help break the record.
What a passive aggressive terrible fucking title. That's absurd.

Man how things have changed.

He kinda stepped into that one.
sounds like he didn't graduate yet even though he's in year 5. that seems difficult to do.
I predict something will happen soon as a result of this post.
WTF?
Has any college football team panicked harder than OSU this off-season?

We went to Surly after the Michigan/Minnesota football game last fall, great spot.
great rec, thank you. might have to belly up to the bar for a chicken parmesan before the game.

edited: here now for lunch and beers. got the bartender to put on the master's with sound. Think I'll stay here until game time.

Great article. Just the right amount of analysis coupled with relevant stats and the 2 videos. Well done.
Flying into Minneapolis for about 20 hours Thursday to catch the games, first Frozen Four.

Please add that it's women's basketball next time. I understand that the sport is gaining steam, but it still felt very ESPN bait-and-switchy.

1998 was my (5th year) senior year. I hope the 2024 class gets the same experience.
Yeah, agree. But with my username I didn't want to go there.

Good stuff.
I have done a 1st round draft pool for about 10 years now, so I've studied mocks every year and have watched the drafts very intently.
One thing that seems to be fairly consistent is a QB going higher than expected. Of course there are outliers to this like Manziel, Rodgers, etc.
I think you meant #11 to the Vikings.

Anyone remember what happened a few months after we won our last football national championship in 1998?
Just sayin'

The Izzo/MSU insta-bid needs to stop. He's a fucking tone deaf clown that doesn't deserve the respect he seems to get every March.
And of course he doesn't want smaller schools to get in so that can't keep embarrassing him all the time.
