No one is talking about…

No one is talking about Duren to the Pistons yet. I'm so pumped after these two picks. No articles still on the major sports' sites.

I will admit that I don't…

I will admit that I don't get to watch a lot of Arizona Wildcat basketball, but the few times I have, Mathurin stands out to me, to the point where I think he would be a top (3) pick.  He's usually in the 6-10 range in mock drafts.

I'm rooting for Mathurin to the Pistons at 5.

Shoot...MMB!

On tv, they just said even…

On tv, they just said even with maybe a slight edge to Georgia fans. Still feel like there are more M fans?

That's how I felt about…

That's how I felt about yesterday's game. BIG was locked up. #1 seed locked up.  Meaningless game. I'd rather they stay sharp playing for the BIG tournament championship than an MSU game on the road that means nothing.  Sucks that Brooks went down.

@UMinSF

Was going to say…

@UMinSF

Was going to say the same thing. Smith immediately went down and drew an and-one. The whole team seemed to take their intensity to another level.

"Michigan is not just…

"Michigan is not just running Dickinson into the post and hoping he's able to bull his way into good post position. They are seeing what the opposition is running and finding various ways to exploit it."

I remember hearing Harbaugh say something very similar. Something like...football is a chess match. We run plays to see how you defend them, and then we are going to counter that. Then you'll adjust and we will counter again.

I feel like Harbaugh lost that somehow.  It is so fun watching Juwan adjust, and adjust quickly.

I was actually surprised he…

I was actually surprised he didn't go into concussion protocol (that I saw, anyway).  While I don't think he got hit directly to the head, his head snapped back and forth.  This is where I thought they done messed up A-A-ron.  I thought that should send him immediately to concussion protocol, and everyone would be throwing a fit because they didn't.

But, whatever. He lit it up and it was annoying to watch, being a Michigan fan.

Best: Iowa, 1997. I was in college and I went to the game with a buddy. I also have family in Iowa so that is always a big game.  Michigan down 14-7 and punting right before halftime.  My buddy and I went out to get a head start on concessions and we heard the roar of the crowd...in a bad way.   Tim Dwight returned the punt for a TD.  We didn't know until we got back in and saw it was now 21-7 Iowa.  Michigan comes back to win and goes on to win the national championship.

Worst: Michigan OSU. Don't remember the year and don't care. Michigan up almost the whole game...just remember Carr settling for a field goal, OSU scoring a TD to win it very late.  Tried to forget everything about it.

Love Spoelstra's comments to DR...telling someone that you'll fail, but you'll be better in the long run because of it.  As someone who loves to coach, I really appreciate this.

I don't have anything funny to add, but I had a question that isn't thread worthy...

Is buttcheeks one word or so I spread them apart?

Pretty sure my post spelled…

Pretty sure my post spelled it out pretty clearly.  I coach other travel sports, and I tell the parents to let them have fun, and if they show signs of being pretty good, take the next step and find them some better coaching and training. If they keep getting better, take it to the next step.

That said, I'm really hoping my 9th grader walks away with a Michigan offer from a $60 camp.

@Foote1982...thanks for the info!

@Helloheisman...I sent my oldest to MSU and WMU soccer camps, and they were really good.  I will keep IU in mind for future camps.  Thanks!

Never played football...like watching it. My dream is for my son to become a man who loves other people, plain and simple.  Everything else falls into place after that. Sports are fun.  I like watching him play. He's good for his age.  That is all.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks a lot Magnus! Always a fan of your info.  He is getting training from the school QB coach regarding footwork, reads, etc. and has a good shot at starting for the varsity his sophomore year...just want to make sure I don't miss the next step.

I'd take advice on both.  He…

I'd take advice on both.  He's at the stage where it's worth getting him out there for coaching and exposure, and see if it goes anywhere.  If these Michigan camps are more of a fun, pose-for-a-picture with Harbaugh, it might be worth it for such a low cost.  But, as a soon to be freshman, I know you don't want to wait to long time get him in front of people who know and see potential.

I may not have worded it the best.  I don't see Beilein ever at MSU either, but boy would that be a kick to the gonads.

"We played under screens bc…

"We played under screens bc Michigan hasn't proven they can shoot outside consistently.  Today, they hit their shots."

This is probably the truth, but it also seems like that's how they were defending.

I'm so tired of the "you can…

I'm so tired of the "you can't blame refs" argument.  You want to put yourself in position to win plain and simple.  Bad things will happen every game. You'll miss free throws. You'll miss layups. You'll turn the ball over.  So, yes, technically, you can say you should've done one thing differently to win that one possession game.  Point is...you do your best to put your team in the best position to win.  If the refs butcher a call, they should absolutely be blamed.  Otherwise, what's the point of evaluating officials?

Why evaluate officials if you can just say the team should've done something different?

I think I got it from the…

I think I got it from the last couple posts, but I'll have to see a replay.  Shocking that we again get screwed!

Can someone explain? I…

Can someone explain? I assume you're talking about Z's layup where he was fouled.  I was listening to the radio, then while they were reviewing it I had to get out.  Why did OSU end up with free throws on top of Z's?

Nooooo.  Man...if this is…

Nooooo.  Man...if this is true...

"Yeah, they're called doctors!"

Thanks!

Thanks!

Where can I find this again?…

Where can I find this again? I keep saying I need to watch it.

I remember when Detroit …

I remember when Detroit (area) was the the absolute best sports town in the world.  Now it's in the down cycle, and it's a different sports landscape.  NBA feels like wellw never be revelant again.  NHL young and hopefully upcoming, esp with Yzerman involved.  Lions...haaaa!  Tigers? Gonna be a while.

So we really need our U of M football and basketball teams to carry us through, but both are in a wait and see, with basketball looking really good potentially.  Football...please!! Please become elite again!

This explains it.

NBA for as long as I can remember was 1 free throw and the game just picks up where it left off.

College must've changed the rule, and it may have been a while ago, but I never realized it. Crazy!

Thanks guys!

Is that a rule that you know…

Is that a rule that you know for sure? If shooting free throws, you are not awarded possession?

I've never noticed it, but that must be the only situation where possession is not awarded if that's the rule.

I said the same thing in a thread as far as going offense Johns and defense Teske.  It will be interesting to see what happens next time we are in a close game, although it could change based on opponent.  Oregon was really athletic, so I get going with John's for that reason.

JonSmow54, agree 100%.  I…

JonSmow54, agree 100%.  I wish the last bucket (the and-1) had been inserted to this post as a video, like the others were.  John's stood there like he never even saw Pritchard.  A hard help should've come simply bc Pritchard was killing us.  You have to make someone else beat you at that point.

Also, would've liked to see someone with length try to guard Pritchard at some point, although can't argue with trying to ride your best defensive player on him.

Great analysis, though.  All this said, Pritchard made some really tough shots.

I actually don't mind that…

I actually don't mind that. Like someone already said...it's inevitable.  That doesn't stand out too bad.  I have a feeling it'll get worse.

Here is a link to the box score.  A few things stand out...Livers led the team with 20 pts.  John's was 4-5 fg and 2-3 from 3.  Brooks 10-10 from the free throw line??

Thanks for this. It was great to watch.

Brandon Johns??  He looked like a stud, right? Wasn't that him hitting 3's and then creating a little off the dribble?  I know it's SVSU, but I like the looks of the offense.  (I admit I didn't have the volume up.)
