You're wrong on this one…

You're wrong on this one. They have one open scholarship because of GW3 entering the tranfer portal. Jace not on scholly means they have two scholarships to work with since Dusty said one which means that Jace is on scholly for the next sesaon.

Larry Johnson Sr is a highly…

Larry Johnson Sr is a highly regraded DL coach and has coached up multiple 1st round picks at DL from both PSU and OSU. It's quite possible that both Sawyer and JTT were overrated as a recruit. If there's one position group that OSU should be strong at in terms of development, it's at DL.

Notice he said 1 open…

Notice he said 1 open scholarship which means Jace gets the scholarship and will be on the team as a 5th year graduate student.

Technically, yes, but NFL…

Technically, yes, but NFL runs a lot of college concepts borrowing from Air Raid, Run and Shoot, Pistol, etc. So pro style doesn't really mean anything anymore

LC didn't set up RR for…

LC didn't set up RR for success with the recent recruiting classes and lack of OL. RR did not do a good job of restocking OL by focusing so much on the skill position players. Hoke did a bad job of identifying and developing talent. It just a bad recruiting job by all three leading up to Harbaugh tenure.

Tbh, NFL doesn't run a pro…

Tbh, NFL doesn't run a pro-style. It's an antiqued term from the 90s and early 00s. NFL has taken in on more high school/college concepts. The blocking scheme is pretty similar across the board like Pin/Pull, Power, Trap, Counter, Wham, etc.

What sets Michigan OL apart is they recieved good coaching and developed well. OL recruiting matters little in the overall grand scheme of things because it's so hard to project HS players as a OL since they usually come in undersized and need college S&C to get bigger and stronger.

IIRC, Lloyd Carr took 3 in …

IIRC, Lloyd Carr took 3 in '06 in one class and 1 in '07 class also screwed Rich Rod so OL depth wasn't there at the end of LC tenure all the way up to early Harbaugh tenure. It took years for Harbaugh to restore it.

Tschetter isn't a 3. He's a…

Tschetter isn't a 3. He's a 4/5. He's an undersized stretch big and is in no way shape or form a wing player.

Walters and Wolf are likely…

Walters and Wolf are likely PF. Wolf also will see time at the 5 which makes it a 5 out offense. It will be nice to see a contrasting style of offense between Goldin and Wolf. Goldin at the low post with Wolf playing at the perimeter when either plays at the 5.

Michigan badly needs a true 4. Walter is more of a 3 while Wolf is more of a 5. If May can find a defensive 4 who can protect the rim and can switch, that would be ideal. The combination would be Walters at 4 with Goldin at the 5 then the portal 4 with Wolf at the 5. It makes it a nicely balanced frontcourt.

Wolf will see time at the 4…

Wolf will see time at the 4. Offensively, he fits at the 4, but defense is where there may be a potential issues. However in the B1G where there are teams who plays with two bigs on the floor, it's fine. I can see Wolf getting some PT at the 4 against Indiana, MSU, etc.

Pretty cool that Wolf grew…

Pretty cool that Wolf grew up a Michigan fan and almost walked on to Michigan. Going to Yale was the right decision and was able to parlay his play into a full scholarship at Michigan.

You're right. You are…

You're right. You are confusing the two players. Copp did play QB at Skyline HS.

He did not play QB in HS. He…

He did not play QB in HS. He was a fullback/RB in HS and Kelvin Grady, former Michigan PG and WR, was the primary RB with Kelvin's cousin, Demarcus Grady (NIU QB and WR) playing at QB. I know this because EGR was a dominant program in the 00s and won multiple state championships in D3.

He turned down D3 football during prep school so he got lucky with the path he took to get into the NHL. Easily one of the most unlikely path to the NHL.

Marvin Harrison got 27 yards…

Marvin Harrison got 27 yards, 44 yards and 11 yards on Will Johnson. That's 82 against Will Johnson including the DPI. Will Johnson won some battles including the INT. Even when Will Johnson lined up across him, Michigan regularly rotated the coverage towards Marvin Harrison Jr because he's a huge threat on the offense which is the correct game plan.

I wouldn't call 5 for 118…

I wouldn't call 5 for 118 yards with 1 TD getting blanketed. Both won some and both lost some. That's the reality of both elite prospects

There is a difference…

There is a difference between G-League/overseas and the NBA. Short PG who can't shoot aren't NBA caliber players. Yes, Zavier does get 10 day contracts here and there, but he has never gotten a one year contract or long term contract. It's still a death sentence for non-shooting short PGs.

That being said, good for Zavier to stay in the G-League.

Phat Phat isn't playing over…

Phat Phat isn't playing over Cason or Pippen

If he's not Michigan…

If he's not Michigan material then why did USC accept his transfer? They're a B1G team. Hmmmm, makes you think

The coaches are waiting…

The coaches are waiting until 11:59pm tonight to see who will enter their name into the portal at the last minute. There may be more players for May to recruit for the open scholarship spot (GW3 spot). I prefer that he'll recruit a 4 who can play defense and rebound because the frontcourt is lacking on defense IMO.

The interests on their side…

The interests on their side has faded.

Regardless of Jace decision,…

Regardless of Jace decision, Michigan only has one open scholarship due to GW3 entering the portal

He's a better fit for this…

He's a better fit for this roster than last season roster. He'll be a backup SG/SF and just be a 3 and D player. His defense wasn't great last year, but I wonder if he can get back to Bama level of defense. Either way, it's nice to see him back in AA for his final season.

May literally brought Pippen…

May literally brought Pippen and Cason to take their spot. May also brought in Gayle and Jones.

Diabate has nothing to do…

Diabate has nothing to do with my statement. They do need a 4 and there is a reason why May is recruiting forwards. Walters is more of a 3 playing down a position for May. Since you brought him up, he would've been a perfect fit for the current roster.

Michigan does not have a true 4 on the roster. Walter is a wing. Wolf is a big. Period. They don't have great depth in every position. They badly need a 4.

You pulling out wikipedia definition is the definition of you being a condescending dick.

What does it has to do with…

What does it has to do with my statement. Walters is a wing who is probably forced to be a 4. He brings nothing to the table but elite shooting. You want a starting PF if May can get him. As it stands, Walters and Wolf will see a good amount of minutes at the 4.

Ideal starting line up would look like this:

PG: Donaldson | Jones | Cason

SG: Gayle | Jones | Pippen

SF: Walters | Jones

PF: Transfer | Walters | Wolf

C: Goldin | Wolf

They need wings more than…

They need wings more than another shooting guards. They have plenty on the roster.

A wing who can play 3/4 would be ideal. If they can find an extra schollie via player leaving, a 3rd big would be in the card.

Cason is ahead of Phat Phat…

Cason is ahead of Phat Phat. Jones is also the backup PG. There's 3 so they don't need a backup PG.

More likePG: Donaldson (28) …

More like

PG: Donaldson (28) | Jones (5) | Cason (7)

SG: Gayle (28) | Jones (5) | Pippen (7)

SF: Jones (15) | Burnett (15) | Walters (10)

PF: Walters (24) | Wolf (12) | Tschetter (4)

C: Goldin (25) | Wolf (15)

Also, it's clear that they need to find a wing player who can play the 3 and 4. Depth is needed at PF. Wolf will play some minutes at the 4.

Phat Phat is lower in the pecking order than both Pippen and Cason and is a worse prospect than both of them as well.

He knew he was going to…

He knew he was going to bring in more guards, but he probably didn't think he was going to bring in 5 guards which effectively pushed him out of the rotation minutes.

They also do get the benefit…

They also do get the benefit of transfer down from P5 schools. It works both ways

Not much depth at the 4…

Not much depth at the 4. Walters is more of a 3 but will play the 4 under Dusty. Wolf will see time at the 4 but isn't athletic enough to guard the 4 except against teams that likes to play 2 bigs. Michigan doesn't have a true 4 on the roster.

He's likely heading to FSU.

He's likely heading to FSU.

When he announced that he's…

When he announced that he's back, there were no guards on the roster. May recruited 5 guards. The situation has changed.

Yeah, I alluded to it in the…

Yeah, I alluded to it in the other basketball post that GW3 or Phat Phat would see them getting recruited over. May is continuing to recruit wing players to play the 3 or the 4. They don't have much depth there.

While it's true, Michigan…

While it's true, Michigan got swept by NW in the 3 game series. Win 2 out of 3, we won't be lamenting this cancellation.

That but he was bad last…

That but he was bad last season. His play has more to do with his stock than the 40 time.

Braden Fiske went to WMU for…

Braden Fiske went to WMU for 4 years before grad transferring to FSU. Do we count him as a MAC player?

They gave a lot of NIL money…

They gave a lot of NIL money to the returning players and the portal. They didn't have any for Gayle. Gayle struggle last season is why OSU decided not to invest significant NIL money into Gayle.

He still needs to improve…

He still needs to improve his defense and contested rebounding.

He is who he is and it won't change because he's a below average athlete and isn't laterally agile nor is explosive vertically.

I'm not too worried about…

I'm not too worried about his 3 pt shooting %. He had a wrist injury on his shooting hand since Bama game and it affected him the rest of the season. I expect him to bounce back in a big way from 27% to high 30%.

OSU didn't want him back.

OSU didn't want him back.

They're set at CB. They want…

They're set at CB. They want to keep Brian Branch at nickel. They overhauled the CB room with Carlton Davis, Amik Robertson and Terrion Arnold. They have talent and depth there.

If any, the Lions need a starting safety.

It's a weak draft for…

It's a weak draft for defense but much stronger on offense especially at OL and WR. Last night reflects it. 6 QBs in the top 12 is crazy and at least half will bust. It's a matter of which QBs will bust.

Sometimes, the picks aren't…

Sometimes, the picks aren't made by the GM. The ownership input sometimes take precedence over the GM like Johnny Football to the Browns.

Wrong, when a player enters…

Wrong, when a player enters the portal, their scholarship with the former team is no longer guaranteed even though it's for 4 years.

Tschetter would not start…

Tschetter would not start nor play 20 minutes. He's likely being recruited over by a transfer forward. Walters is slated to start

That was before a rash of commits last weekend. He may be seeing that there's no room for him to play
