Here is the verbiage from 23-24 NCAA D1 Manual:

11.6 Scouting of Opponents.
11.6.1 Off-Campus, In-Person Scouting Prohibition. Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited, except as provided in Bylaws 11.6.1.1 and 11.6.1.2. (Adopted: 1/11/94 effective 8/1/94, Revised: 1/14/97 effective 8/1/97, 1/19/13 effective 8/1/13, 1/15/14)
11.6.1.1 Exception -- Same Event at the Same Site. An institutional staff member may scout future opponents also participating in the same event at the same site. (Revised: 1/11/94 effective 8/1/94, 10/28/97 effective 8/1/98, 1/19/13 effective 8/1/13, 9/19/13, 2/7/20, 6/30/21 effective 8/1/21)
11.6.1.2 Exception -- Conference or NCAA Championships. An institutional staff member may attend a contest in the institution's conference championship or an NCAA championship contest in which a future opponent participates (e.g., an opponent on the institution's spring nonchampionship-segment schedule participates in a fall conference or NCAA championship). (Adopted: 1/15/14, Revised: 2/7/20, 6/30/21 effective 8/1/21)

I feel badly for the MSU…

I feel badly for the MSU student athletes.  It doesn’t appear as though they deserve to be in the middle of any of this.  If MSU would have acted immediately and not tried to sweep this under the rug, the student athletes could have hit the portal and not have had to burn a year of eligibility being caught up in this.  MSU looks awful and the student athletes are the biggest losers . . . again.  MSU’s Administration should be ashamed.  This is yet another example of the supposed adults behaving like adolescents at the expense of the student athletes.

He specifically stayed in conference because he wanted to prove he could do it again and stick it in our face.

Sticking to facts is a best…

Sticking to facts is a best practice and “Snarling Wolverine” does it well in this instance:

(1). Cade didn't turn the program around.  #fact

(2). 15 TD passes in 14 games.  #fact

(3). He wasn't even a good teammate, as his behavior toward JJ (from the start) and to the rest of the team (once he lost the starting job) showed.  #fact

(4). And then he trashed the program on his way out.  #fact

*Cade has exhibited behavior which leads a lot of adults to conclude he acts as if he were a toddler.  Most quite successful UM grads who have built large, successful enterprise organizations would not hire him once he graduates. #fact

I apologize for wording this…

I apologize for wording this so poorly.  Syntax aside, Cade is the only “captain” in the history of UM football to quit and transfer mid-season.  That is simply a fact. He did exactly what we all tell our children not to do.  He took his ball and went home as if he were a toddler.

Erick All is the antithesis of Cade.  He is terrific and it is unfortunate he didn’t get cleared medically to finish his career with UM as he wished.  I hope he has a great NFL career.

He quit on Michigan - or …

He quit on Michigan - or “the captain who quit”.  He never deserved to be considered a Michigan Football player.  He is disgusting to anybody who was ever voted a “captain”.

He quit on us and the team…

He quit on us and the team who voted him captain.  Worse “Captain” in UM Football history.

R-E-L-A-X skippy. These are just kids - just take a deep breath and all will be OK

I think it is fair to note…

I think it is fair to note the fact colleges and universities can’t block a student athlete from transferring.  If the student athlete’s transfer application doesn’t meet NCAA requirements for immediate eligibility, all the student athlete has to do is sit out a year.  Nobody can block a student from leaving their institution.  All the student has to do is sit out a year

While I agree with most of the above, this situation with Reeves doesn’t apply.  He has been in school for fours years and has only earned 96 credits.  Picking up 24 credits in summer school just isn’t realistic.  I don’t doubt the fact Reeves would like to leave UK.  He just has zero leverage.  If he wants to play D1 basketball next year, it will have to be at Kentucky.  #facts

He needs 120 credits to…

He needs 120 credits to graduate and currently has 96.  That is one of the many reasons why he will move into his dorm at Kentucky on Monday.  If he gets 24 credits in one summer at ISU, I’ll stand corrected. It will be shocking if he doesn’t end up at Kentucky.

DUUUUG! Clutch free throws and runners off the high class in OT?  Yes please

I’m surprised this fact isn…

I’m surprised this fact isn’t stated on this board more frequently.  Nothing matters until after the December signing period at the earliest.  And “commitments” are now seemingly more moot than ever as the portal and NIL are completely rearranging the landscape.  College football recruiting used to be a volatile cesspool.  Now I’m not sure how to accurately categorize it.

A University of Florida QB commit who just signed an LOI less than a month ago allegedly wants out of it because he says the $13M in NIL he was guaranteed is now not happening?!??   Supposedly, he originally “committed” to Miami due to their NIL offer and then switched his verbal because Florida out bid them.  Is a Dutch Auction about to supersede signing day?

The offer list is the piece…

The offer list is the piece of the equation that is perplexing.  When he was able to haul in targets he was borderline electric.  He had some drops, but he didn’t really get enough opportunity to have a lot of drops.  I’m very interested in other’s opinions on this one.  Only thing I can think of is his run blocking wasn’t what the program was looking for.  One thing that is apparent by his offers is that not a lot of other P5 programs felt that way.  I would love to see him perform well at OU.

I would be interested in…

I would be interested in hearing people’s opinion regarding how TCU stopped the Michigan run game.  It didn’t seem like they were committing extra guys to the box every down

This is so difficult because…

This is so difficult because Coach Howard has done so much for Michigan and has done so over such a lengthy period of time. Almost all people truly enjoy him and respect him as a person and as a husband as well as a father.  We want him to do well.  He is an easy guy to root for.  Coach Howard loves Michigan.

The problem lies within the behavioral data and it is troubling.  The predictable analytics in regards to his temperament tell us where this is trending and it isn’t likely going to end well.  It is almost as if this is playing out in slow motion right in front of our eyes, but for some reason we are helpless to stop it.

The walk-on who can pay his…

The walk-on who can pay his or her own tuition has been allowed for decades.  This is why fans speculate that Jace and Jett Howard could have their parents pay their tuition and open up two scholarships

It is important to just…

It is important to just stick with the facts.  Cade is the only player voted captain in the history of UM Football who quit.  Speculating on his maturity levels or character faults isn’t our place as supporters of UM Football.  Just stick to the facts. He is a quitter.  Rather than stick around and support the players who foolishly voted him a captain, he quit.  #FACTS

He is now the #1 prospect in…

He is now the #1 prospect in 247 transfer portal rankings.  He might be the most talented LB on the team when he shows up.  His “measurables” are impressive.  Watch him close on McCarthy for that sack. Excellent pick up.  Apologize for link insertion

Cade quit. Cade did what we…

Cade quit. Cade did what we all tell our kids to never do.  Adversity struck and he just melted down and disappeared. Cade couldn’t bring himself to stay on the team and support the very players who foolishly voted him a captain.

All’s situation is much more complex.  He was getting squeezed. By the time he realizes he should have been telling his family members what to do and not the other way around, it will be too late.

Cade ostensibly quit on the…

Cade ostensibly quit on the team.  Good riddance.  When is the last time a Michigan Football captain quit and transferred before the season was over?  I can’t EVER recall that.  He took his ball and went home like a child.

Nobody is a bigger Dug fan…

Nobody is a bigger Dug fan than I.  And I was overwhelmed by Dug’s performance.  I definitely thought he would have more turnovers than steals.  I was concerned he might have more turnovers than assists.  That feeling was exasperated after UM’s first offensive possession. The fact he only had one more turnover throughout the rest of the game was incredible.

There will be a regression to the mean.  He won’t go 100% from three every game unfortunately.  And his defense looks like it could be a problem from time to time depending on the opponent, but every game will be electric from here on out.  The split of the hedge that culminated in an acrobatic layup makes it all worthwhile for me.  Pure energy and excitement!

This isn’t necessarily a death knell.  Dug will continue to grow and his turnover rate will likely decline.  It will definitely be exciting.  Dug is a whirling dervish.

Woodson is in a class all his own.  Will Johnson has the tools to be REALLY good and he appears to be rapidly ascending.  He is still young and guesses at times which gets him beat on occasion. Very similar to Diggs with the Cowboys.  If the 2025 draft were tomorrow, he and Malachi Starks at Georgia would likely be the first two DB’s off the board
