We are on the same page.  I don't mind Detroit adding the black jersey occasionaly, but wish they'd go back to the 90s with stripes and white, silver, and Honalulu Blue only.  Bears keeping it the same. Redwings are perfect, which is crazy when you look at what other hockey teams jerseys have gone through. Pistons classic red white and blue and Tigers are also good colors and classic, but not as Unique as Lions and Bears.

too late now to go after Harbaugh as head coach with the khaki dress pants and winged helmets.

A little off topic, but I've always really liked the Bears standard uniform.  The Orange works great with the dark dark blue and white. and I love the simple stripes down the legs. with the pants being light for home, and dark for away with socks alternating. My favorite lions uniform is from the 90s, with the silver pants with Blue and white stripes on side and the Honalulu blue Jerseys with stripes on sleaves.  colors all worked well together and were unique.

It'd be cool to be right on the water watching a game. 15K seats means no way that Michigan plays there, but I never liked when football was played on a baseball field.

oof.  That uniform is not a cool throwback.

I still think the First under the lights against Notre Dame did the throw backs best on both sides.  The refs in the short pants and caps helped as well to give that old school feel.

Notre Dame only goes to 10, which is why "tough" OSU was able to get that last second touchdown on their 3rd attempt.

I am horrible with acronyms.  I just recently found out the DM is not short for digital message.

$17M is such an absurd…

$17M is such an absurd amount of money.  I am an engineer for over 20 years and make decent money compared to a lot of other disciplines.  I will be lucky to make 1/2 that amount if I can continue to get raises and bonuses and work another 30 years.

I just don't think the productivity of his decisions or expertise for that one year can come close to the products ive launched and will launch in my career. Workers are definitely being scammed.

That's a fun breakdown, but…

That's a fun breakdown, but when I watch videos of ex pro athletes talking about their practices, and workout routines, there is a lot that goes into each of those snaps.  The hundreds of hours of film breakdown, the thousands of throws to get timing with receivers, the ice baths after getting hit by a 330 pound guy that can bench press a VW and runs a sub 5 40.  Most pro athletes bodies are so worn down when they retire, they can hardly move. It's a lot of money, but as others have said, who you going to give it to? The Billion Dollar Owner?

Harbaugh and Beilein did an amazing job of finding recruits and getting them to the show, some times earlier than expected.  It had to make a difference when you can show kids how many players you have gotten drafted.  In both cases, it was a combination of getting underrated players, players who fit their system and personality, and getting players who had parents play professionally. Thanks Seth for writing this.  It was a fun walk down memory lane for someone (me) who's memory sucks now days.

I have to say, I feel very lucky to have gotten to experience Michigan and Big Ten Football when I did. Hearing Keith Jackson with his legendary way of making every game feel special. The Big Ten being deep and strong in the early 2000s. Watching Michigan Hockey's epic run from late 90's to early 2000's in Yost before it was redone, it all just felt unique and special.

They were trading our signs directly with other BIG coaches.  Stealing signs is legal, and other teams did it to Michigan and corroborated with each other to do it.

NBA definitely is not a fan…

NBA definitely is not a fan of the Pistons.  The script was supposed to be lakers / Celtics then Bulls.  Having the Pistons take 2 (could have been 4), really pissed them off.  The 04 Pistons ruined the Kobe / Shaq run with Malone finally getting his ring.

Side note, I like Malone a lot more now after he sat down with Isaiah.

It is because of this game I had such a hard time ever accepting Chelios was a redwing and not a black hawk. Also where I became a fan of Paul Coffey.

My oldest loves Fortnight.  I am horrible at it, but love all the characters he can be.  Was super happy to see him get the TMNT package. In general, I realize I am horrible at video games.  I do play rocket league with my oldest too.  He does most of the work, but I have my moments.

When I have time I love playing Skyrim.  Just a great universe.

The penalty is that the Student is giving up his Scholarship at St. Mary's, which is the agreed upon compensation to play. Giving up tens of thousands of dollars is not nothing, so it is comparable. Or are you saying that the Scholarship is not compensation to play? In this case, Michigan has agreed it will pay for his college.  If St. Mary's was paying his tuition at Michigan, then I think you'd have a better argument.

eh, I wouldn't feel bad.  It is OT. You shared a funny story about a bad beat on a sports bet on a sports blog.  I think it opens up others to share their stories too. I'm not a gambler, but don't think a story like this means you have a problem.

I am worried that there are a lot of people who do lose a lot on gambling. Watched a documentary on it.  Crazy what types of losses people were taking.

I completely agree with this…

I completely agree with this.  Everything now seems to be monetized and needs to see a return on everything.  Learning for the sake of learning and being well educated and well rounded on a variety of subjects, is not a bad thing for our society.  I think having people who studied philosophy, and art, and literature are key to helping us grow.

Seeing anyone with a hobby needing to create a business out of it to make it worth while is sad to me.  Studying only one specific money making degree is similar to youth sports pushed to such a high level, where kids need to commit to one sport early on rather than playing a lot of sports, makes them worse overall athletes.

I don't think that there needs to be an ROI on every class or degree.  I read books on stuff I like, or movies I like (most likely made by LSA people) because they are interesting to learn about and see.

Weird, no mention of PPP loans to small trade businesses that college grads potentially paid for.

I'm glad to hear that there…

I'm glad to hear that there are options like this. I have an engineering degree, so it has helped me in my career as an engineer. I also know that there are a lot of engineers with very little practical knowledge for how stuff works and goes together. There is a lot of engineering that is done by non engineers who understand mechanical stuff.  I worked with a guy who ran our machine shop, and he was a genius at making fixtures.  He could take my quick scribble concept drawing and come up with a brilliant fixture that thought of adjustability and other factors I may not have thought of.

The world needs a good mix of practical and theoretical to get stuff done.

I am 90% sure I would not…

I am 90% sure I would not make it in to Michigan in this day and age, and would now be borderline at State, which is crazy (applied in fall 97 and got in early notice for fall of 98).

I have 4 kids that are bright. I am worried about the stress of school and possibly missing out on college due to costs, or admissions restrictions.  When I was in high school, I took physics, and math and biology, and literature, but also took home and auto, and jazz band, and had a free hour my last year as a senior so i could work.

I hope my kids all get to enjoy their time as students and be young and have fun. College is a great soft landing place for kids to grow. Heading out of the house at 17-18 to go live in the dorms where there is one bill, is a good transition.  Living in a big house with a bunch of other 20-21 year olds and going to classes, sports, parties, and having a dumb college job are all great experiences I hope my kids get.

I feel like everything is overly competitive and costly. Everyone seems stressed, including kids. I hope that we can shift away where kids can be kids (including in college). Sorry, incoherant rant.

Classic Mini Cooper. I love them, especially when equipped with the fog lamps.  If I ever win it big, I'm making a mini car to race

I love how the 2 door and 4 door jeeps look.  The truck has always bothered me.  I think a lot of the isue I have is the dumb rear door.  I think it throws all the dimensions off by not being a properly sized, and shaped rear door.  They savfed money by using the same rear door from the 4 door jeep.  I think it'd still be ugly, but that would fix one of my main complaints.

Liking a car because you…

Liking a car because you like it, for any reason, is the ultimate reasoning to like a car on a gearhead thread.  Gearheads like all sorts of cars for all sorts of reasons.  Most of them are not practical or logical. It's the best part of cars.  "That is a brilliant car, but I like this." Jeremy Clarkson.

My neighbor growing up had a 1985ish Red 911 Targa Whale Tale. What a great looking car I wanted so bad as a kid (still do).

Practical Car: Toyota Grand…

Practical Car: Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Premium. We need to purchase our next family car so we have a replacment vehicle for our 8 year old family vehicle in case it starts to have issues (hopefully both last for a long time)

Dream car: Porsche Targa 4s. One of the few sports cars that still come with a manual.  All wheel drive means I can drive it for most of the year. I've always loved Porsche's and 911s.  Can still kind of bring kids with me and can take wife on weekend trips around Michigan

Cool Practical Car: Would love a Rivian RS1.  I am a huge fan.  Just a cool vehicle that can do everything. Only concern is the mileage for the speed I drive up to traverse city for so many youth sports events, where I'd need to make at least one long stop (1/2 hour). Probably worth it to deal with that one inconvenience 7-8 times a year.

I'm not a huge baseball fan,…

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but lived in Boston during the early 2000s. Getting to experience the heartbreak of losing in game 7 up 2 runs late to the Yankees and then coming back the next year after being down 3 games was truly an amazing time to be there.

As a Michigan fan, who truly became hardcore my freshman year after they won it all in 98, I really appreciate this year.  My friends tried to bring it down, with all the fake drama that came up, but watching a Rose Bowl win with my kids and the National Championship with my kids, well past their bedtime, was so worth it.  It is definitely hard to see your team lose so many close ones. It makes it all the more worth it when they win.

I didn't watch the game, but…

I didn't watch the game, but just wanted to weigh in on spring games in general.  Usually, the defense is well ahead of the offense in the Spring.  I am assuming our experienced defense is really far ahead of most offenses.

Offenses in spring games are usually vanilla.  Hitting check downs is an important part of the game, so I am happy that he is seeing this and making those plays.

Orji definitely needs a deep threat. JJ struggled with hitting deep balls for whatever reason the first year he started.  Last year he was amazing, but I am ok letting our defense, run game, and passing check downs carry us for a lot of the season.  Turnovers are still one of the biggest threats to success.  I don't know if Orji will be a top QB or not, but wouldn't put too much stock into this game.

I'd get lots of practice for…

I'd get lots of practice for Edwards tossing balls too.  A little mad magicians where two dynamic players can throw over the top.

It worked with Denard…

It worked with Denard without a top tier running back, so hoping the offense can figure out stuff to run with Orji. Stacked boxes will be almost an every down thing, so Michigan is going to have to figure out how to take advantage of that.  The Denard / Tebow fake up the middle and then over the top throw to a slot or TE would be great.  Tebow's size and running may be a similar comparison to Orji. Maybe steel those old plays.

I hadn't seen that, but what…

I hadn't seen that, but what a way to alienate fans of lesser means. The Stanley Cup was brought to Plymouth Cultural Center for kids and families to get a picture with free.  I love the culture around the Stanley Cup and how it travels with players.

Seeing the University (public) charge so much seems crazy.  I'm hoping it is just now, and there will be other opportunities for fans to get pictures with it for free.

...mommy and daddy would only give you $6B, cause that is what they think it costs to run an athletic department.

I think Michigan's 2013 team…

I think Michigan's 2013 team was talented enough to win it all that year.  They had the best point guard that year in Trey Burke with a very competent back up in Spike who played great when Burke had early bullshit foul trouble.  Stauskus was deadly as a shooting guard able to hit outside shots while also being athletic enough to take it to the basket, along with Tim Hardaway Junior who could also handle the ball and was almost as good as a shooter, with similar athletism with attacking the hoop.  GRIII was an athletic freak who could finish at the rim, and Mitch McGary had come into his own as an athletic center who could finish at the rim with a few different moves, and could lead a fast break.  Morgan was starting center and killer at the high pick and roll with Burke as a change up from McGary, and Horford and Beilfeltd could come in to support from the bench. They handled the VCU full court press with ease, broke down Syracuses 2-3 zone defense, and took down Kansas in a crazy comeback, which is probably a better team than Louisville.  That team was just fun to watch.

At least State ran into a similar situation when they played North Carolina in I think 2009.  No team was going to beat NC that year, so glad that State and Izzo didn't get another one.

That team should have won…

That team should have won that game.  They had the talent to beat Louisville.  There were a lot of questionable calls in this game, that being the worst. I don't think many teams were going to beat the Villanova team (if we had DJ back then I think it would have been a possibility to help cover all positions).  That Louisville game still hurts.  One of the best runs through the tournament I've seen.

As a worker at Starbucks for college (I mostly worked the coffee bar, but we split tips on shifts with the register cashier), I did NOT expect tips on a $4 latte drink.  I was payed $7 something an hour, which was fine.  I usually got around $1 an hour extra from tips, and that was great.  I should not need to add $2 to $10 every transaction.
