No, I think you're right. 1 open slot now, 2 if Jace doesn't return or stays as a walk-on. This is based on the basketball depth chart by class and a max of 13 scholarships per roster.
With Saddi currently the AHC, I'd be very surprised if Yak got the nod over him for that post (in the hypothetical situation where they are both retained).
Sure, it seems a little silly to me that there are folks making gobs of money off of the labor of college athletes, but that's not what I wanted my post to be about.
Just trying to understand: if the football program is valuable, who is seeing that value? Is it a measure of the athletic director who's most well-off? Whose football facilities are would be worth the most if they were sold for scraps?
So when we say it's valuable, its value is being seen by the athletic department, better allowing them to provide pristine facilities for non-revenue sports, for example.
I don't have a WSJ subscription, so I couldn't read the article, but is this a listing of the college football programs who are best at capitalizing upon the free labor provided by their scholar-athletes? Or does this capture something else?
Not trying to be snarky/soapbox-y, sincerely asking what this measures.
What about Mike Elston? I know he may be a longshot since he's been at ND so long, but is young-ish, a decent recruiter (#32 this cycle according to 247), and former Wolverine.
Is an associate head coach in South Bend, so we'd probably need to give him some strong title.
Have a chance of everyone being on the field at the same time. Rumler and Jones (O-Linemen) are on Team Flash, and Smith and Johnson (DL and DB, respectively) are on Team Ballaholics. Not sure what colors each will be sporting.
Jersey #s, according to USA Today:
Nolan Rumler: #50
Trente Jones: #74
Mazi Smith: #36
Quinten Johnson: #31
**edit**
As pointed out below, Anthony Solomon is also playing (#40, Team Flash), so there's no chance all our guys will be on the field at the same time.
I'm going to guess it'd be difficult for Brian to do this until he UFRs the offense and gets a real handle on exactly what the gameplan was here.
But I agree, some discussion about formation (that double-tight I-form seemed to work well for at least a play) or play calls (how do we call a screen that involves OL moving out to block without getting the QB killed?) would have been more welcome than more focus on why we're in this painful situation.
This is a fantastic way to honor your father, grandfather, and fathers of Michigan fans all over. I'm sorry you won't be using this tickets, but this is a great next use for them.
For ten years, my father and I lived thousands of miles apart, but always made a point to text each other "Go Blue" at the beginning of each game, and keep in touch during the games. Now, we're both in the Ann Arbor area, and have enjoyed the opportunity to watch games together. We've decided to attend this game whether or not these tickets come to us, but please consider this post my entry.
Honestly just happy that Coach Beilein is staying and that Coach Harbaugh hasn't gone to Oakland (although I'm hearing it's still in play). Hiring Mel Peterson was huge too.
For the Denzel fans among us, I cannot recommend enough the podcast Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor of All Time Period. It's hosted by comedians Kevin Avery and W. Kamau Bell (who is a super-insightful dude, in addition to being hilarious).
One of those references may have been from me - I've sort of become a single-issue poster since the update removed my voting privileges.
I do know that taut (over 800 MGoPoints) can vote, so the threshold is likely in that 620-820 range. 750 just seems like the neatest number to me within that range.
Did anyone else see Coach’s handshake with Bacari after the game? It kinda looked like he blew him off. Surely there wouldn’t be bad blood for Bacari leaving to take this opportunity. Anyone else catch that?

This tends to be more on the ballhandler than the player setting the pick, imo.

Hey! 2012 AU alum here.
I'll be at the game Saturday and it will be my first time cheering against the home team while at Crisler.
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!
Early on, Baylor's offense looks like the best unit on the field. Surprising, given what I've been hearing about the Pokes' D.

I'd recommend Insecure and the Leftovers.
Insecure is hilarious and the characters pull you in. Honestly, I'd watch anything Issa Rae does.
The Leftovers is dramatic and thought-provoking, and also has very strong characters driving the action.
I would subscribe to a podcast of Brian’s wife debunking popular food myths.

Got it. Thanks for the answer.

In case anyone wants the real timestamps:
2. The Jordan Poole Game: Penn State starts at 34:25
3. Seth's Ace's Hockey Podcast starts at 50:29
4. Around the Big Ten with Alex Cook starts at 1:12:11

Brady Hoke?
Have no idea…
Probably not.
Have no idea how "Ballaholics" is a good idea for a team name. Deion Sanders is coaching that team, so maybe he came up with it?
It has a glossary - https://mgoblog.com/content/mgoblog-glossary-terms-and-memes - but FFFF is missing from it. May have been a while since it's been updated.

Exactly my thought. Our prize for winning the 6 seed? Going to 3-seed Chicago to be demolished.
I'd rather punt on this season and take the better draft pick, please.

All the best to you and yours, joegeo.
I'd be interested in MGoNight at the Pistons, depending on when it's scheduled, and would likely bring at least 1-2 others.
This is exactly what I thought
Sorry if I missed this, but what's the significance of the highlighted names?
Oy. Talk about a "quit drinking and go to bed" moment.
Honestly just happy that Coach Beilein is staying and that Coach Harbaugh hasn't gone to Oakland (although I'm hearing it's still in play). Hiring Mel Peterson was huge too.
I waited until midnight to click on the post, out of respect.
Quick question - are you able to vote on other comments? I think we're still uncertain what the voting threshold is, but my best guess was 750.
Co-sign on the quick tutorials.

How long until this blog drops ESPN as a recruiting data point? These days, the Worldwide Leader may as well be called "ESPN, FFS".
Right? I feel like using a scholarship for Jeff George Jr would be downright bizarre.

I think the 500 pts is a guess - and a guess that is a bit low. JBDaddy commented about not seeing thumbs and they're at 627 or so. Maybe it's 750?
If the site update delayed the June 2008 edition of this even a day, then that's probably my biggest beef with 3.0.
Seth's recent front-page post refers to "trusted users" as 500+ points, so I think you're right about that being the new standard.
First in a series of "How to...MGoBlog 3.0"?
While this may be unnecessarily complicated to pull together, I think a Brian/Seth/HUEL AMA done here, liveblog style, would be super valuable.
I believe it's a points issue, as I (and other posters with point totals in the triple digits and below) am in the same boat.
Love this idea. Would upvote if I could.
I'm also in this boat. Help and/or posbangs are appreciated.
As a…
So very impressive.
As a former runner myself, I could never imagine running a 10K on a track. After 25 laps, I would think you'd get dizzy.
I wish upvoting was available to users with low point totals so I could +1 this post.
So the 2019 class might contain a player named after Jalen Rose (albeit with different spelling) and the cousin of Juwan Howard?
I, also, am relieved at this news.
Based on your post and Ma1zeandB1ue's above, I'm going to guess the threshold is 450.
Can we get tomer some upvotes to see if thumbs magically appear at 450?
That's what I started thinking when I saw your post below.
Sorry if I'm blind, but I'm not seeing how to up/down vote these comments.
It works now.
...but I'm staying for the posbang
